Str8 As (842.5 days ago) Some years ago in my finance class, the instructor said that is one of the worst mistakes that can be made. It impacts your credit score almost as bad as a bankruptcy. When you consolidate, it look like you have more debt to income ratio. I would suggest you talk to your creditors directly (most of them are willing to work with you for a small monthly payment too), see if you can work out something and save a little money or the consolidation process. You may be able to pay off some of the smaller debts faster than you think. Remember not to agree to a payment you cannot afford, you tell them how much you are willing to pay...most are willing to accept that. Whatever you decide, make sure you do what is comfortable for you. Hope it works out for you and congrats on your journey to financial freedom!!!
love.nora (842.5 days ago) I sent you a private msg about our consolidation experience. Be careful who you get to consolidate!!!
nmck (842.6 days ago) I consolidated all of my federal loans through Direct Loans. Then I consolidated all of my private loans through CFS. Call the customer service on your Direct Loans and see if they can help tell you which of your loans is eligible to consolidate through them. Good luck!
