and amandad74...ivf in itself is playing god, so why not take it that step further??

In the big picture it probably would affect the boy/girl percentage because many cultures don`t want girls :( but my hubby and I have talked a lot about having more kids and we would LOVE to have 3girls! We have our first girl and I think if we could choose the rest to be girls we probably would.

Okay, I`ll be the `odd woman out` here. Why not? It`s not like your picking out their nose size, eye color or hair. It`s not a Frankenstein project. What if you`re the poor 40 something mother that has had 6 boys and had wanted at least one girl. My SIL said she wanted a girl because, she wanted the close mother-daughter relationship she shares with her mom. I thought, how sweet. If you are going to get pregnant anyway, trying to complete your family, why not under these circumstances, pick? Some people will want to pick a girl, some will want to pick a boy. It won`t effect boy/girl percentage. Why not?

jeez NO! i wouldnt do this, too me any child no matter what the sex is a gift, i agree mumbo/amandad that maybe if it was to prevent a genetic thing

It just doesn`t seem right to me especially if there are no problems with conceiving naturally, unless of course there are genuine genetic issues involved. I assume one would have to have ivf then, what about all the unwanted embryos that are the `wrong` gender? Do they just get thrown away? It`s playing God if you ask me.

its illegal in the uk, also in the uk certain areas will not tell you the sex of your baby at the scan as certain cultures abort certain sex`s

Wow! It just doesnt seem right! i had no idea they could do this. But hmm i guess people are doing it! It just personally would not be something i would do!
