Dannie (841.9 days ago) My son took forever to adjust to long naps- Like your son, he would wake after 30 minutes, but wake up crying, which is a sign that he didn`t get enough sleep- I tried leaving him to settle for 5-10 minutes, but that never worked, going in to try to rock him, but he got more upset, being put back to bed- I eventually just started going in to get him if he didn`t settle after a few minutes- it wasn`t until around 9 months that the 30 minute naps started to transition into longer ones-but even then he would sometimes wake-up mid-nap, let out a few cries, but doze back off to sleep- A nurse at one of the baby classes I use to go to told me that most babies don`t start taking long naps until the ages of 7-9 months- my son is now 20 months old(may seem a long ways a way to you) and naps beautifully- 2-3 hr naps every day.
5against1 (842 days ago) For the longest time, my daughter was taking 20 min naps 3x a day. But she never was cranky, so I thought that was enough rest. Then 1 day, she woke up after her normal 20 min(like clockwork) and i was soo tired that day, so we snuggled while I rubbed her back. She passed out! for an hour and a half. So the next day I thought I would try the same thing, and it worked. I just spent a few minutes putting my fingers thru her hair, rubbing her back, gentle squeezes up n down her arms and legs and she is out again. After a few weeks of this, she just started sleeping the whole time straight thru...I would NEVER recommend using CIO.
MaddoxAndAverysMama (842 days ago) put Origel on his gums, feed him right before naptime, up his amount of solid food, play music to drown out outside noises (we live in an apt complex with a lot of soldiers, and soldiers have VERY loud vehicles so the music drowns out a lot of the noises that would wake him up), you can try teething tablets (they didn`t work for us but people swear by them), change his diaper right before so he`s super dry to sleep... thats all I got.. I do these things and my son sleeps an hour and half at least once a day, sometimes 2 depending on the level of activity... HOWEVER, he wakes up at night right now because of teeth, but I couldn`t sleep the 12 hours without waking up for a snack and a diaper change either so I can`t blame him!
