While she doesn`t sound like the greatest friend ever, is it possible she is going through some issues in her life that may have made her draw away from people? I had a friend who avoided talking with people when she was going through marital problems. Or could she possibly just be a person to whom it doesn`t occur to let friends know she`s moved or changed phone numbers or something? Another friend of mine totally disappeared for a few MONTHS and I was worried about her, but all that had happened was that she moved out of town and didn`t tell me. She was to be in my wedding when she disappeared, and finally called me 2 WEEKS before my wedding to finalize the wedding plans on her part. She turned out to just be the sort of person who doesn`t use common sense in when she should contact people and let them know things. Maybe your friend is similar to this?

My best friend growing up hasn`t spoken to me in about 5 years, it`s as if she just vaporized or something. I`ve written her a few letters, and even announced my upcoming marriage last year, but never heard a word back. Oh well, I suppose it`s better that way. I developed major self-esteem issues as a result of that friendship, and I`m probably better off without her anyway.

i think she did you a favor by disappearing. id forget about it and live my life. theres just some people who come into our lives that really arent meant to be permanent fixtures. i would cut my losses and move on.

When I had my daughter i definatly saw who my real freinds were. Most of my friends didnt even want to hang out with me anymore. I was friends with alot of guys and they are assholes cause i was pretty much erased from their lives after years of friendship, i guess they didnt want to hang out with a baby around. I know what you mean about not being greedy when it comes to getting gifts but when you go out of your way to get people things and do things for them and then when its a happy time in your life you dont even get a congrats or nothing. people suck!
