babydecember (839.8 days ago) My mom drove with 2 feet, that`s just the way she learned to drive in the 60s. I learned on a stick shift, and I only use my left foot for the clutch. If I`m in an automatic, my left foot stays idle. Anything else is too dangerous.
jenakers (839.9 days ago) Unless you have a stick shift, driving with both feet is DANGEROUS. During drivers ed. this was a MAJOR no no. You would fail your exam in this state if you did it.
hollysnum2 (839.9 days ago) My mama drives with both feet and she is 46. She says she drives that way because her first car was a 69 dodge charger and you had to keep one foot on the brake while you gave it gas for it not to stall out. She drove that car til she had me so it really became habit for her!
blondie9504 (840 days ago) Well the way I was taught to drive a stick, you only use your left foot for the clutch. But even when I do get back in an automatic, I may look for the clutch with my left foot but I never use it to brake with. That is dangerous!!! I think I have severe road rage, brake likes piss me off (if they aren`t needed) People going 15+ miles under the speed limit drives me nuts cause there is always a car comming so you can`t pass them! And people that swirve back and forth across the lines drive me absolutely insane!(They are either drunk or on their damn cell phone!) I just know that since I`ve been a Mommmy these things are driving me up the wall!
DiandClover (840 days ago) It drives me nuts! Someone was driving ahead of my on the highway doing this the other day, and the brake lights were on the entire time, except when they started to go up a hill, for some reason they would take their foot off the brake for a second or two, but then right back on! So dangerous because when traffic is moving fast you have no idea if the person ahead of you is really braking quickly because of something ahead that requires slowing down... I was depending on what the cars ahead of them were doing. Grr! (For the record, and not being ageist or sexist... this guy was in his late 50`s maybe? Maybe somewhat generational like someone else mentioned)
armymom (840.2 days ago) I don`t but my husband does. It`s soo weird. He says it`s because he`s always driven stick-shift manual cars until he met me so he feels more comfortable with 2 feet.. since with a manual you would be switching your left foot from clutch to brake. I think that`s why alot of drivers drive double footed... cause they proably learned to drive manually first.
crystalblueeyes (840.3 days ago) my grandpa does cuz he has bad knees and says he is scared he wont be able to lift his leg fast enough to slam on the brakes if he has to. only person ive ever known to do this tho..on the drivers test they take points off if u do it.
canadababy (840.3 days ago) My step-dad does it, he is a retired RCMP. So does my DH`s uncle, not sure why he does it though. They`re both a little older, mid50s and mid60s, might be a generational thing.
