canadababy (142.1 days ago) I am O-, I think it`s something like 10% of Canada is O-, it`s rare, but not the rarest. The blood donor clinic sure does love me though, lol! EditDelete
thirdtimearound (142.1 days ago) I am A-. And had the Rhogam shot with all 3 of my pregnancies. EditDelete
~2nd TyMe Mom~ (142.2 days ago) AB Negative is the rarest blood type because it is rare to have both a and b protiens in your blood.
Answer
AB Negative as it`s the newest blood group. The oldest being O.
Blood Type
AB Negative is the rarest. B Negative is the next rarest.
Although statistically the rarest blood type IS RH Negative AB Negative, as only 0.8% of the worlds population has it.
The RAREST blood type!
Is not AB Rh Negative, it`s actually a blood type commonly known as Bombay Blood (subtype h-h).
Quote: `Bombay blood (hh) is the rarest of the rare blood types, essentially being completely outside the ABO system that the rest of humanity has. They do not have the A or B antigens, and instead of having the H antigen which defines type O, they actually produce antibodies to H.
This blood type was first discovered in Bombay in 1950 and that is where the name comes from. People who have this type of blood can only receive blood from others with the same type of blood, and there are very few of them. One article about a boy in India with this blood type states that there are only 57 people in India with Bombay blood.`

babyblue1 (142.3 days ago) --just wanted to note--most people who respond to this will probably be o neg because other people who are not probably don`t have much to say on the subject! So if the numbers for o- look high that`s why! It is quite a rare blood type. EditDelete
babyblue1 (142.3 days ago) i also have the red cross calling constantly! I don`t mind :) I was worried about this, but then it turns out my partner is A neg (lucky because only 15% of the population is rh-). We only found out when i was pregnant. So i didn`t have to get any of the rhogam shots because our LO was automatically negative too. I would have gotten it though if my partner was postive and we didn`t know about our LO`s blood type. cncmom (142.3 days ago) It`s the Rhogam shot (spelling). I also had it with both my pregnancies during the pregnancy and after delivery. EditDelete
STCT (142.3 days ago) I have Red Cross calling all the time to donate blood seeming it`s rare. Also my hubby is O+ so I had to get that shot (forgot the name) while pregnant. EditDelete
cncmom (142.3 days ago) I commented on your earlier poll. Yes, I am O - and have had no problems. EditDelete
juels101 (142.4 days ago) I am O- and don`t know anyone elts (personally) who is. I was told it was a rare blood type so just seeing how rare. If you have an experience please do comment. EditDelete
