I just take the stem off, if there is one still attached. Why remove the end, especially the end with no stem? What purpose does that serve, other than slightly more pointless work, and slightly less bean to eat?

I am not sure why...but I looked it up and the few things I saw says it`s not necessary to do both sides

I cook with green beans a lot and Always cut off both ends.

I always snap off both sides. Why would someone only do one?

lol. i didnt know you had to take off any of the sides. i just take the stem off with my nail, then throw them in2 a pot.

One night while making dinner for our family with my sister...she looked at me like I was nuts for plucking both sides and wondering why it was taking me a while...I am making greenbeans right now with dinner and it made me think of this question....LOL
