mrsjmickens1 (19.2 days ago) i used to work 12 hour shifts and my dog has always been able to hold it until i got home. ii never had to lock her up and if she ever did have an accident which was rare...she would always go on the tile near the door never on the carpet and i never would punish her. i think her record is like 15 hours....but when i get home shes bustin through the door to get to the yard. shes a very good dog...of course i treat her like my baby
phooey (19.2 days ago) if I can`t take him with me, I take them to my parent`s house to dogsit, they live really close.
mare2fillys (19.3 days ago) Oh a dog can handle 4-6 hours easy. I take mine with me if I`m longer than 8 hours. Even then they are fine, as long as you let them out before you leave.
lb71 (19.3 days ago) We got a doggie door panel that fits into our sliding glass door, so that our dog can go out when she needs to whether we are there or not. In our last house, we installed a regular dog door into our back door for the same reason. But if we didn`t have dog doors, we would leave her in her crate (which she loves; it`s where we feed her so she sees it as a place where good things happen) for up to 8 hrs- just prefer to let her have more freedom so the dog doors are the first thing we put in at any new home.
adriana03 (19.3 days ago) and i mean if you go out for a couple of hours like 4-6. Not days or anything long like that.
