mrsjmickens1 (834 days ago) i had the same problem with my patient i work with. i read a medical article that said to try having the same routine before bed every night. let baby lay down by himself until they begin to cry/get aggitated. then pick them up but put them down as soon as they go to sleep. then instead of picking them up when they wake up. just touch them and let them know your there and try to calm them without picking them up. then the next time do it a shorter time. i been doing this for him for 3 weeks and it works great. he also had some separation anxiety from his mom so heres how our evening goes....i come in,take out his hearing aids, set up his feeding and place him in his crib. turn out the lights and let him watch his mobile(while mom sneaks out room :) and be independent for as long as possible. (sometimes he falls asleep on his own now)when he becomes aggitated (not just makin noise or trying to see if someone is there) i will pick him up after about 30 secs and hold him til he falls asleep. then i immediately place him back in his crib. (at first he would wake up and cry so i would pick him up and hold him again only till he fel asleep and returned him right back to the crib) eventually he grew too tired for this `game` and would stay asleep. now he sleeps through the whole night no matter how many naps he took during the day. but i also wanna mention i read about 10 articles about the same thing and of course all experts have a different opinion but this worked for me EditDelete
thumper (834 days ago) 1 nap is fine, each baby is different, some go to bed later at night and up earlier so they need more sleep in the day EditDelete
nicolauk (834 days ago) when my son was 6 months i could only get him to take 1 nap which only lasted 15 minutes. i suggest you let him have only 1 nap, and give him some solids (like cereal) a little bit before bed as he will sleep better on a full stomach. :) hope that helped EditDelete
