That is a tough situation. I would never be able to live with myself for not helping that child. I would give the kidney. But like Cheeky, I would insist on contact with my biological child. He would not have to know me as a parent, just as a friend of the family, or something like that. Even knowing me as his organ donor would be OK, but I would want a relationship.

I have no clue if I would give a kidney to a child I didint know or would ever even be able to have contact with. It may sound terrible but probably not, my father has kidney problems and I have told him numerous times he can have one of mine if he needs it. If I gave it to the child, where would that leave my dad?!? Mayb Im a bad person for preferring to save my father as opposed to a child Ive never know or will never be able to know, regardless if its my child! :S

He should be able to contact his child if he wishes to. If he didn`t know about him than his parental rights were taken away unfairly.

cheekybee---i totally agree with you that the parents are being sh** heads! but its not the little boys fault that the dad never knew about him, nor is it his fault he is sick or that his `parents` are acting this way when obviously if they loved him enough to ask for the fathers help, they should love him enough to allow the father to be apart of his life. I totally understand saving the kidney for the children actually in your life, but what if they never need it and this little boy dies. would that be regret you would carry on the rest of your life? See its just so hard to say what to do. i so agree with cheekby, but i also cant help but imagine this poor dying little boy and how none of this is his fault.

I think the adopted parents should consider how resilient kids are, I mean, do they plan to never tell him he is adopted? If its a life or death situation why wouldn`t they just do it now? And thats not fair to the bio father if he wants to see his son, I mean, he never signed his rights over if he never knew about the child. Maybe he would have wanted to take the child on his own since the mom didn`t want the baby, but he never even had the opportunity to make that decision! I think the adopted parents better hope he doesn`t decide to fight for rights to his child. I don`t know the laws about situations like this, but if I were him I would be pissed. I couldn`t say what I would do about the kidney though. Maybe I would do it and fight for him at the same time? Regardless of the kidney if I knew I had a son that was adopted without my knowing I would fight like hell for my son. I feel sorry for the boy though! Poor baby!

I would say yes but I would insist on meeting my son. I would agree to not tell the boy who I am and be more of `a new family friend` who has come around to help (later when the child is old enough to understand adoption he would be told who I am) I agree 5 is to young to confuse him but I would insist on seeing him. If they want to save the life of their adopted son they sure as heck best negotiate with me since I am not the one who choose to put him up for adoption anyhow. If they said no then they didnt want to save his life bad enough IMO ~

oh man this is heart wrenching. I think its one thing to have an opinion and say `yes i would do this` or `no way` when your not actually in this situation, but its another to actually HAVE to make this type of decision. Honestly, my first instict is yes! i would definately save this childs life. knowing it was a product of me, even though i cant share or be apart of his life, i would never want it to end just because i cant have contact with him. I think i would ask the adoptive parents to at least send pictures every so often and small updates about hoe he is doing, just so that i could feel somewhat connected even though he knows nothing of me. But again....thats my saying that and not being in that situation....to actually HAVE to make that decsion...my answer could be very different. I cant imagine have to go through something like this.

  1. Thanks to my twin`s ability to trek down here, my records are straightened out! I will be having my first appointment on February 29th. I will be 10 weeks-ish. Around here that is about when they want to see you. When did you get your first appointment?
  2. What do you think is better (or worse) for kids? TV or video games?
  3. I`m interesed in getting an innotab for my kids. Are the extra downloads pricey? How is the product as a whole?
  4. Thought they were fixing the problem with the profiles? Mine is now starting to disappear and most of my friends profiles are gone. Is it getting fixed or what because its more than a joke at the moment. Maybe its the ads causing the problems because its the only thing that seems to stay when the profiles disappear.
  5. If you had a `favourable` cervix (started to dilate and soft) did a membrane sweep work for you?
  6. Should I buy my sister a Belly Bandit for her shower? She said that is what she wanted when I asked. I just have a hard time spending that much money on some thing she might niot like. Especially because it was me who put the dumb :) idea in her head!! I bought and used one for three out of my four and loved it...but is it for everyone? Or should I throw down the money to something more practical?
  7. Are your children exposed to two hours or less of TV per day? (This includes when your shows are on and they are awake and around at the same time in the same room)

  8. Just finished making a birthday cake for the first time from our baby girl for her daddys bday tomorrow :o)
  9. Extension of last Valentine question..I should clarify that we are having V-day dinner tomorrow alone but still just the fact that he bought our gifts at the same time at the same place bugs the s-it out of me. He knows I like plants and I`m pretty sure he went to a nice nursey and got me one but the fact is he told me he got his mom a small little plant. OMG I fee like I total b-tch but I feel like telling him I know what he probably got me and I do not want anything that you are giving your mom!! But then he wopuld know I snooped and saw where he went on our checking account.
  10. O.k I know this is a off the wall question..Is it weird and selfish of me to be annoyed that my husband has is giving his mom a Vanetine gift and card tonight when she comes over and wants to give me mine too today? I know I`m probably being sensitive and I feel bad that I made the comment `if you give me the same thing as your mom I`m gonna cry`. He said I should`nt ruin the surprise and I told him I was sorry but I just wanted our Valentines seperate because everything includes his family and it`s a day for lovers. Am I....
