Now that you`ve mentioned that you were speaking of school aged children your poll makes more sense....I was a little dismayed by your shock but I have a 2 year old and I am a SAHM... as stated before, she goes to bed late and still gets 12 hours of sleep plus a 2 1/2 hr nap.

I put my daughter to bed around 8:30 or 9 but she sleeps in til 8:30 or 9 too. Her dad would only get to spend like 30 - 60 minutes a day with her if I put her to bed earlier. If we were forced to get up at 6 or 7 - because I worked or she were in school - she would go to bed at 6 or 7. Different schedules work for different people.

I took it to be quite judgemental. Hence my last sentence in my reply. Try reading it from the point of view of someone who does NOT put their child to bed at 7-7:30. You make them sound inferior to you and your routine. You may not of intended that to happen, but that is how it reads to people who do it differently than you. Just to help you understand where some of us may be coming from...

i my 13month old goes to bed at 7pm and wakes between 7-7:30am even my oldest three which are 6,8 and 10 are all in bed by 8pm on a school night, it is great to have my evenings doing what needs to be done, wether cleaning/relaxing or being with my fiance, i cant do the things i need with my kids around, plus they get cranky if they dont get enough sleep, i am a sahm so i do get to spend more time with then than a working parent, so i wouldnt judge those who had a later bed time , so they could see their kids, its each to their own and whatever works best

Oh don`t be shocked, my kids go to sleep around 8:30pm and sleep in until atleast 8am. Plus, my 22 month old has a 2 hour nap during the day. So, they still get 12 hours of sleep even though they don`t bed down early.

I don`t get to pick my little man up from Day Care until 6pm. then its another 15 minute drive home. Then I make dinner and by the time that is all done and we`ve had some together time its around 8 pm. Then its bath time and he doesn`t get to bed until 8:30-9. If we put him to bed earlier we would never see him! I wake him up at 8 in the morning and put him straight in the car to take him to day care. I think it is WAY more important to have quality time with him as much as possible rather than insisting he gets to bed by 7:30. Everyone`s life and schedule are differnt though. If I was a stay at home mom and Riley got to spend a couple of hours with his dad when he got home from work then off to bed at 7:30, that would work. But for us both being working parents, it doesn`t. Being "shocked" is quite rude towards people who don't have the same life as you.

Liam is 9 months old and goes to sleep at 7pm and wakes up at around 8am. I am with you completely on this. I don`t think I could function properly if I didn`t have some adult time when he went to bed.

Well, if your kids start playing sports, they will have late games. My kids all started playing sports at about age 5. And Im not sure if it was when they were that young, but I am sure that by age 7, they had games on weeknights that didnt start til 7pm, then it would last 1.5hrs, then getting home and showered and into bed. My oldest, who is 15, has basketball games that have STARTED at 9pm.

Mine goes to bed between 6:30 and 8....whenever she gets tired. You have to remember some babies won`t sleep that early, no one can control when their baby goes to sleep. Sometimes mine doesn`t go to bed til 9 or 10...but she always sleeps in til 8 or 9, sometimes 10 so it`s not a big deal.

I agree with you entirely; I am ALL FOR early bedtimes for kids!! My twins are 18 months, and I put them to bed at 7 or half 7. Sometimes it ends up being 8 but only if they had a late nap in the day or something like that. I had a tough time settling them tonight; that`s why I put up my previous poll. It made me think about bedtimes and how other people get on settling their toddlers, and what time they put them down etc! PS Definitely adults need their alone time in the evening; I don't know where me and my fiancé would be without our evenings alone together, to chill out and eat dinner together, without two toddlers climbing on the dinner table and offering us bits of fluff off the floor...

Ever since I can remember my bedtime was 8pm when I was a kid even in high school until I started working at 16 years old.

I am COMPLETELY with you on this!!! My 16 month old goes to bed at 6:30(originally her bed time was 7pm but was waking up super early. I heard to put them to bed earlier and they sleep longer so I tried it and it works!). She gets a great nights rest, what she needs, and we get to eat dinner peacefully and enjoy our time. Some night it might be me doing laundry and he is working on something else but it is time we need to get things done and relax.

OMG, I posted on FB (in reponse to a suggestion made to me on From Our House To Yours) that I didn`t like a business because the items were very expensive and my friend got a bad deal there and the owner is threatening to sue me! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I actually paid a consultation fee and my lawyer told me that she was `absurd with possible mental health problems.` I am protected by the fisrt ammendment to express my honest opinions freely where I choose, but he said she can take it to court(because people can TRY to sue over anything) anyway and that it might cost me legal bills. We will both be out a lot of money because she couldn`t possibly win. Can you believe that? FML! First my records and now this! I hope my baby isn`t a bad luck baby. I see people not recommending or recommending businesses all the time on FB!

Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.

DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
