nmck (14.7 days ago) Boppy makes a product called the Noggin Nest. I did not need it, but a few friends used it for their babies and said it was very good.
brooklyn143 (15 days ago) my daughter did not but they recommend you switch their laying postions all the time so one doesnt develope, but my neice had to wear a soft helmet to train her head to grow more rounded as she had a flat spot, if you think its more sever then changes laying postions i would just let your dr know...
hunnybunnysmama (15 days ago) my daughter had one, she was swaddled until 8 months.. so to fix it I would prop up one side of her mattress for a few days then switch to the other side forcing her head to roll to either side keeping her off that flat spot. It went away.
luvbeingamom (15 days ago) If your child develops a flat spot i would speak to you ped about it. It usually develops from laying in one position for to long/to much. A lot of babies get it b/c they can`t sit up/roll over, etc. Try in the next couple days/weeks to do more tummy time (even laying on your tummy. Lay your LO on their side etc, so that they aren`t laying on the same spot all the time. See if it improves. if it doesn`t start to improve from this i would speak to the ped. :-)
lb71 (15.1 days ago) Not mine, but one of my twin nephews has a flat spot on the back of his head. His head was engaged for several weeks before delivery, so it was charlie-brown-shaped when he was born (his brother has a typical head shape). Anyway, when sleeping he simply would *not* sleep unless he was looking straight up. We tried using a wedge, but he would wriggle off it every time. Went to a neuro at about 3 mos, and the neuro did xrays but said not to worry about it and not to use a helmet, it would eventually correct when he started rolling over, and if it didn`t then his hair would cover it anyway. It never corrected (he`s 3 now) but his hair does cover it, even tho it`s a largish area - can`t tell at all.
nuggetlovin (15.1 days ago) My daughter had a very small spot because no matter how I laid her she always rolled to one position... I tried always putting her in different positions and not letting her lay to long once she rolled to her fav. position. But it usually corrects itself unless it is a very severe case....
mumbo (15.3 days ago) My son had a bit of a flat spot on the back of his head but it was very minor compared to some children I`ve seen, one little boy I saw today had a real conehead and he would have to have been about 6 months old. Once my son got to a point where he could sit supported and then unsupported, he didn`t lay so much on his head and it`s not noticeable now. One little boy in my mum`s group had a flat spot on the side of his head, I just caught up with them this evening and he doesn`t have it now...
