roomfor1more (14.8 days ago) I`m sorry, but what more can you do? If the baby is fed, changed and you are comforting him or her, what is left to do? There is nothing wrong with letting the baby cry if you are doing everything in your power to get him or her to settle down. Like Jendez if it gets to be too much, I have put mine in the swing and they were sleep within minutes. I know I will be wearing a scarlet letter for letting my children CIO but oh well I do what I have to do....
jendez (14.8 days ago) When my 5 month old is over tired, I mean to the point where nothing helps and she`s starting to give me headache, I put her in her boppy in my bed, walk away for a few minutes and let her cry it out, go back a few minutes later and she drinks boobie for like 5 minutes and is OUT!
inb25 (14.9 days ago) I see you`ve been posting some polls regarding sleep. Please do yourself a huge favor and get the book `Good night, Sleep tight` by Kim West. It transformed my son`s life and mine. He never slept more than 3 hours at a time and I always had to rock, walk, bounce, etc. This book offers a great insight and solutions to develop healthy sleeping habits. Ever since he was 5.5 months, he`s been sleeping 12-13 hours a night, sleep on his own including nap time. He is a very happy baby - now 14 months...
nutnut (15 days ago) nah. sometimes kids get themselves so worked up theres really nothing else you can do. youre fine.
juels101 (15.1 days ago) I`ve found with my last two, luckily no colicy babys, but they only time they seemed unconsolable is when they were over tired. I did just that, coo`d at them and held them while they cryed themselves to sleep. Didnt happen too often but a few times each they fought sleep a little too long.
RobinG (15.2 days ago) Def loving and comforting to hold them while they are crying. You are showing effection and attempting to soothe :) There is nothing wrong with that!! thats being a mother :)
xela (15.2 days ago) you are comforting him, and he is quite young, so do whatever you need to do to comfort him:)
mumbo (15.2 days ago) I would think that if you`re holding them and they`re crying, you`re doing the right thing in comforting them. I found my sling an absolute god-send when my son was younger, it was one of those ones where he could really sink into it, and I used it right up til he was about 5 months old, I would just tap him gently on his bum and rock him and that would send him off to sleep when all else failed... Good luck.
