Hate to admit this, but I sucked my thumb until probably Middle School. My thumb always had a callas (sp?) on it, but it went away after I finally weaned myself.

I was a thumb sucker for 11 years and my thumb stayed raw. I sucked it all day though unless I was in school. It would split along the little crease lines and now its noticeably smaller than the other thumb, lol. My son sucks his 2 fingers which I hate. But the finger nails don`t grow as much on those fingers and they always look like he`s been in the bath too long. You know all wrinkly. I`m gonna try that vanilla extract idea and see if that does the trick

my mom put vanilla extract on my thumb,smells great taste yuck lol

my little girl has sucked her thumb from a few weeks old to her present age which is 21 months, shes nearly got all of her teeth through now and she has never had any problems at all no soreness or skin breaking, i am however going to try and take control now and try to stop the thumb sucking so she doesnt continue to do it for years to come.

my brother sucked his thumb all the time and then he started to get this green mold that was growing under his nail from it. So the doctor told us to put jabenero (sp?) pepper juice on his thumb and he stopped sucking his thumb with in the 1st week. Good Luck:/

My girl is a thumb sucker and no she has not broken skin. When it gets red looking I put some vaseline on it during the day and it is fine.
