love.nora`s poll Show results | Hide results

Pregnancy-poll poll OB office wont let me do my SD test at home, then come in for blood work. The excuse they gave was they didnt want the possibilities of me tampering with the results. I have herd other people take it home, so my question is do you think this is just a lame cop out excuse? And why would someone want to tamper with THAT test. If I was going to tamper with it I just wouldnt do it.

I also took my drink home at the previous appointment with an instruction sheet to follow for my next appt. I ate a full meal than followed the directions and fasted an hour before the drink and came into my appt an hr after my drink to have my finger stick done. Never would have crossed my mind to tamper with the dang thing!

Well I had it done and they actually asked me if I ate or drank anything cause your not supposed to. Then I sat there for 5 mins while she talked ot me and I drank that orange crap. Then I sat in the waiting room, had my doc apt call me in and after waited another 30 mins before I got the blood work drawn. Funny thing is the nurse told me to go pee in a cup and I had to tell her no cause i was doing the test lols. I found it nauseating doing it at a doc office :S

My sister drank it at home (she delivered with a midwife at a birthing center) and I had to drink it at the Dr. office (I`m delivering at a regular hospital). So, different policies for different places I guess.

I was given the script to fill and drink at home and was then able to go in for blood an hour after drinking. Worked out perfectly. I would fight it so you can drink at home then go in. My lab never questioned me so my guess is it is common to do ~

here i dont think they let us take it home.. well atleast i havent heard of anyone doing that but after drinking it at the lab we dont have to wait around if we dont want.. we can leave or stay and wait but we have to be back in time to draw blood.

They would of let me go home. When I went I drank it there and she said that as long as I was back in one hour I could do whatever. I just stayed there cuz I live far from hospital.

I started my 1hr at home too. I had the drink in my fridge. He gave it to me at the last appt. He then told me to write on the bottle the exact time I drank it. Then, I went there for my regular appt, and exactly when it had been an hr since I had the drink, he then drew my blood...I have no idea how someone could tamper with that test??

oh if its the screening (only one blood test after an hour) its ok to eat prior. i had a full meal before i went in, and they said it didnt matter, so long as i dont eat after i drink it. =) so eat something. have some toast, or and egg or something. i had a full meal at Arby`s lol

No they said tamper with! If I puked it up I would have no reason to go to the doc I would call and tell them I puked it up. It being first thing in the morning I am almost sure it will be coming up anyways. I havent even eaten yet lols. Im just pissy :P

Never heard of it being done at home. It`s always done at the lab here

They probably mean `just not do it right` as opposed to tamper with it...maybe not drink it all at once, or puke it all up like some women do, or eat right after....I`ve never heard of it being done at home, here it`s just like any other dr`s test, you do it at the lab.

idk. i had to drink it in front of the dr. he stood there watching me drink it all. and he needed to note the time i finished drinking it. then an hour later they drew the blood. i havent heard of anyone taking the test home. if you dont want to wait so long, ask to take the drink as soon as you get into the office, that way, by the time your appointment is over, you should only have to wait a few minutes for your blood to be drawn. thats how it was with me. i had my ultrasound, the drink, the ob check and discussion about the ultrasound results, then down to the labs i waited about half an hour tops. it wasnt all that bad. bring a book or something. taking it at home isnt a good idea anyway, my SIL couldnt keep the stuff down with either of her pregnancies so if she took it home she wouldve been in trouble anyway. ive heard women passing out from it as well, so better to be at the office if that should happen. good luck. =))) i seriously doubt its bc they dont want you to tamper with the results. i think its more like they know it doesnt taste so good, and women might try adding sugar to make it taste better not thinking (which would change the results of the test), or women will say they drank it all but they didnt bc it tasted bad. they dont want the law suits if these things happen. while you may not tamper with it, some other women may have tampered with the results not really knowing they would be affecting the test. just request to be given the drink immediatly upon arrival so the wait wont seem quite as long. i had to take the test twice. the screening and the 3 hour long test with my daughter. i was so happy with this one i was fine the first go. that stuff isnt exactly yummy, but its not as bad as its made out to be either. =)))

  1. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  2. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  3. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  4. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  5. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  6. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  7. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
  8. MODS ~ please help me in monitoring the photo pages and other pages. Horrific porn was posted in photos sections and they need to be deleted as soon as they are seen. I reported it to Laura also. TX!!
  9. my 4 yr old has 3 planter warts on his foot,.. any home remedies gals or is this a dr visit?
  10. ok ladies, sry its long but i really need some advice, a year ago my 5 yr old brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, over the last year my mom has had a hard time dealing with his diagnosis because there is no cure and all she can do is give him 5 insulin shots a day to keep him alive, she looks at it like march 13th 2011 was the death of her healthy little boy and she woke up with this sick child, well i always tell her she needs to go to counseling to learn how to cope with this but lately i`m more worried about my baby brother, he came home the other day from kindergarten and had a picture of a red headed boy with a knife, 3 people under the ground dead and another one on top of the ground covered in blood, he recently grabbed one of my 15 yr old brother`s pocket knives out and started swinging it at my older brother because they were fighting, and then he told my mother he wanted to be a serial killer when he grows up! he has said before that he wishes he would die, that he didn`t want to wake up the next morning,.....
