absoluties (826.6 days ago) Hi, thanks to everyone for their wonderful feedback. there`s one thing i haven`t tried, i do shake the bottle right before the feeding so i`ll do so longer before, even though i use the drop-ins from Playtex, and empty all air out. his pediatrician okayed the 5oz since he keeps it in, because before he was not stopping until 6oz and would spit. i did try many formulas, the tummy aches and gaz is happening also with pumped breast milk. Sometimes Mylicon works, sometimes not, same with gripe water. I guess once this early stage is over and he`s more developed, things will get better. thanks again!
kylaleigh (826.8 days ago) Yea I think he`s a little to much. My almost 4 month old is eating about 5 or 6 every 3 or 4 hours and they tell me I`m over feeding him.. so maybe try gas drops and cut down the ounces :) good luck!
jekajoy (826.9 days ago) My daughter was eating about 2-3 ounces every 3 hrs. It`s easier to overfeed when using formula, because you are controlling bottle and they have no strength to push you away whereas breast babies can just unlatch. This website helped me with my first http://www.babyzone.com/baby/nutrition-chart.pdf but of course every child is different (i.e. it says 2-4 oz per feeding up to 4 months and I know alot of babies who eat 5-6 oz by 4 months) Check it out and good luck!
daisymae (827.3 days ago) I agree with mommastacey, sounds like gas. Also agree with Robin, Dr. Brown`s bottle are awesome! Try Mylicon. It works pretty well. I actually use the Walmart brand and it works just as well. Unfortunately I think tummy aches are pretty common for 4 weeks olds :( I know it`s tough but you will both get through it, hun.
mommastacy (827.4 days ago) Sounds like gas. Make sure he burps good. You may have to change his formula. Oh and make sure you aren`t shaking the bottle before putting in his mouth, lots of bubble accumulate that way. Hope it helps!
RobinG (827.4 days ago) I wouldnt say he is eating to much at all ~ but he can get alot of gas from the bottle if there is air in the formula. Dr. Browns bottles are best IMO at helping with this. Make sure if you use powder it is made then air removed or settled before feeding. Liquid ready made reduces tummy upset/air. Or premake for the day. Good tummy time after tummy has settled from eating and burping will help and of course mylicon drop (())
Angel-baby (827.4 days ago) Try putting Mylicon drops or Gripe Water in his bottle and see if that helps his tummy.. My LO drank fast and got a lot of belly aches too..
