munchkinsmommie (825.9 days ago) Both kids got regular flu and h1n1 shot. My son is in school and is exposed to so many germs there. I have a 6yo and 14 month old. I read alot about and talked it over with my docs. I felt the risks of the shot out weighed them getting sick and having complications. If the h1n1 outbreak in April would have been sooner it would have been added to regular flu shot. The regular flu shot has a few different strains of what they feel will be the viruses affecting people. They have had no side effects not even a sore arm or thigh.
katrina n (825.9 days ago) The nasal spray is the live virus and no matter how you look at it they are putting the virus in your body dead or alive and you run the chance of getting it. Also they are using squalling in the shots which is suppose to have some bad side effect and I am not sure about the H1N1 shot but I know alot of shots have mercury in them which is said to up the chances of autism. My personal choice is no for myself even though I am pregnant and my little ones. Also they haven`t had enough time to really see what the side effects are from the shot.
linzigenavieve (826 days ago) I had the whole family get it since I`m in my third trimester and there was a bit of an outbreak of it here. My husband works in retail and deals with LOADS of people all day long. We chose to do it after the 3rd employee had been sent home with the swine flu. Then my son is in school and tons of kids have been coming to school sick. None of us have had any side effects from it. My kids are 6,2, and 12 months. Hope this helps!
love.nora (826.2 days ago) I got my shot and am proud I changed my mind being in my 3rd trimester. I am thinking about getting my son the shot as well so he has it when the new baby comes :D
avaann (826.3 days ago) my daughter is 6 months. she get hers and i did the nasal spray. good stuff.
KFinTX (826.3 days ago) Flu vaccines are not always effective (I`ve personally ever only had the flu 2 times... once after getting the vaccine) and the flu can be avoided by washing hands and staying away from super crowded places. I`m not giving LO the vac because I don`t leave home with him too much and am particular about hand washing.
canadababy (826.3 days ago) My 9month old is getting the shot tomorrow..I`m not sure what side-effects you`re talking about, I haven`t heard of any issues whatsoever in Canada. The pros absolutely outweigh the cons, my bestfriend`s 10month old son had H1N1 in the summer and he was one VERY sick little boy for about a week and then pulled through and is healthy now, but it was very scary for awhile. Why would I want to put my child through that when it can be avoided by a safe vaccine? And it`s not only about keeping your children at home, this little boy contracted it from a neighbor`s daughter.
MaddoxAndAverysMama (826.3 days ago) my almost 11 mo old got the shot. I am 30 weeks pregnant and I got the shot.. we didn`t get the seasonal flu vaccine and I never do, because they just guess which 3 strains will be prevalent so you could get the shot and would have not got that flu anyway and I don`t usually get sick.. I got the H1N1 because its a specific strand and having the vaccine means its one less thing to worry about. I`ve had friends and their kids that have had H1N1 and it was not pretty, one kiddo had to go to the hospital and her OSATS got down to the 80s... As far as side effects you wouldn`t have any unless you have side effects to other vaccines since its made the same way... the shot is the inactive virus which is what you and baby would get... the mist that you take in your nose is the active virus.. sorry if this was choppy, been on and off of writing this with the kiddo...
luvbeingamom (826.4 days ago) I agree with what blondie said, it is just like the regular flu shot. We did NOT get it for this reason. It is a flu. We never get the flu shot, we are not getting this flu shot. I did my research and spoke with my ped, i feel comfortable with our choice.
blondie9504 (826.4 days ago) My daughter wont be getting it because she is only 15 weeks old so she`s not old enough. None the less, her father and I both went and got the shot last week. I think the pros outweigh the cons. It`s just like the regular flu shot, there isn`t any real bad side affects that are known. It didn`t phase us at all, I`m glad we got it. It keeps our baby a little safer! One of the girls where I work to her 1 year old to get the shot also and he didn`t have any side affects. If you`re worried about side affects, get the shot yourself and keep the baby at home. Also keep things wiped down with bleach or what not. All in all, if my daughter were old enough to get the shot, yes she would get it :)
