I got my dx as an adult, because i knew my parents were wrong...and now ive dealt w this in my son for mannnny years. but i noticed the symptoms early, and hes been on strattera the past few weeks. we are about to change it though to concerta. strattera only has a 30% success rate, whereas concerta has a 70% success rate.
RobinG (1309.7 days ago) So welcome and so glad you finally have been heard! (()) :) I am a survior of abuse as adolesent and I always knew I had issues but chalked it up to that (which it may still be a part of) but I think much of it was my misunderstanding in also what was wrong and now I am able to sort which is related to my abuse and which is more related to ADHD-I ~ will def keep ya posted :)
RobinG (1309.7 days ago) Here is a description of it I found online ~ `Inattentive ADHD: ADHD predominantly inattentive (ADHD-I) is one of the three subtypes of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). ADHD-I is different from the other subtypes of ADHD in that it is characterized primarily by inattention, easy distractibility, disorganization, procrastination, forgetfulness, and lethargy (fatigue), but with less or none of the symptoms of hyperactivity or impulsiveness typical of the other ADHD subtypes.`
hillaryandmikesbaby (1309.7 days ago) thanks Robin. I have gone to a place called South Jersey Behavioral Health for about two years now. Long story short they kept saying I was Bipolar, and I TRIED telling them i thought they were wrong. finally my case worker left the practice and I met with a new one yesterday. And FINALLY someone is listening to me. This is something I have had problems with since childhood and it just feels good to be heard for once. Let me know how you do, I have started taking Stratterra, i will let you know how that goes.

RobinG (1309.7 days ago) My son has `inattentive ADHD` (which is the medical diagnosis for those known as only having ADD without the `H`) Through my trials and tribulations in helping him and understanding him I have learned alot about myself and my own struggles and have come to the conclusion I too have it. I have been pondering on and off the past month as to what to do about it. My BFF`s hubby felt the same after his son was dx so he went to doc and also got on concerta and feels so much better now. I have seen the wonders concerta has done for my son and thinking of talking to my doc to first get a dx and if I have it to consider that med. I have tried natural diets omega etc to help but it isnt working and I am tried of struggling with the issues I have like my son. When I was born and grew up it is very misunderstood and rarely dx if at all. (I am 42) I`ll let you know how I make out ~
