maisonsmummi (818.4 days ago) My water broke by itself but i had no contractions or dilation or anything for 24 hours so i was induced. I started the pitocin at 9am felt my first contraction at 11am then had my son at 8.38pm.
adkinsrus07 (818.4 days ago) THANKS FOR ALL THE FEEDBACK- looks like there isnt a real trend. Thanks ladies, with my son (my 1rst) I had NO cervical progress at all! I went in havign contractions but it took 17 hours of pitocin and then my water being broken until I was ready to push. I am scared this time b/c he wants to try just breaking my water since I am almost 4cm, completely effaced and she is down as low as possible- will that take forever????
bellajenna (818.4 days ago) 36 hrs total time in labor after pitocin they didnt do anything else i had preclampsia and needed to be induced at 35 weeks.
ladykilla421 (818.4 days ago) I came in 0cm dilated and not effaced what so ever....I got the cervadil inserted on a sunday evening at 6h50pm and when they took it out on the monday at 7am I was 3 cm dilated and completely effaced. My membranes were ruptured when the Dr arrived that morning around 10am....I was started on pitocin at 2pm was was 7cm at 4pm I was not checked again till 6h40ish at which point I was 10cm and ready to push it didint take me long to push her out especialy considering she aws a posterior baby...she was born at 6h50pm on that monday...EXACTLY 24 HOURS to the minute from the time my cervadil was inserted.
angie2008 (818.5 days ago) gave me cervidal the night before they started pitocin. did pitocin all day and all night, they broke my water the NEXT morning and kept the pitocin. I delivered her that night, so from the time they started pitocin to delivery was about 36 hrs. I was at 1 cm dilated before they started it all
mandyf1231 (818.5 days ago) They broke my water, then gave me pitocin. I was in labor for about 8 hours when Eddie`s heart rate started to drop so I got an emergency c-section. :)
juels101 (818.5 days ago) My first took 21 hours and second was 26, that is from beginning to end, and it took about 12hrs to get to 4cm both times.
nutnut (818.5 days ago) i went to hospital around 11pm on wed. they started pitocin around 3am thursday- bc i wasnt getting anywhere with my labor, and had a scheduled induction at9am anyways. they didnt break my water until hours later before my epidural (which didnt work anyway) i didnt have my daughter until 4pm thursday. i dont remember the fine details other than i was so tired bc id been awake since 6am wed. and didnt have her til 4pm thursday, then i had the issue with not being able to pee, so i didnt sleep that whole thrusday night finally friday afternoon i was able to sleep.
SPUDinTHEoven (Tina) (818.5 days ago) I went in at 8am, got started on pitosin soon after (I was dilated to a 2cm when I went in) around 12pm I was still 2 or 3 cm so they broke my water. by 4am the next day (20 hours later!) It was finally time to start pushing. Pushing lasted for 2 hours!!! So, my labor took 22 hours! I had a few complications during labor- a dramatic drop in my blood pressure from around 120 to 66! Which made me throw up and shake uncontrollably. I also got a high temperature because of an infection I got during labor after my water was broken. I was sick from the infection (endometritis) for around a week after delivery while taking antibiotics. All in all labor was a horrible experience for me, hopefully next time I will go into labor naturally and it will be little smoother, but who knows?
andriette and christians mummy liz (818.5 days ago) I had a scheduled induction becoz i have a small pelvis and didnt want c section.I was checked the day before i went in and was at 0 cms and cervix wasnt ripe but babys head could be felt just by checking dialation.Next morning went in at 7 they inserted cervidal to ripen cervix twice and after the cervix was ripe i didnt progrress and they broke my water and i went to 1 cms and no more progress so they started the pitocin at 10 am and i progressed very good i was ready to push at 3 pm and she was born at 3:14 pm.Was extremely painfull but very quick and i only tore one little place.
megandgrace (818.6 days ago) I was induced at 37 weeks for low fluid levels. When they placed the cervidel i was 2 centimeters and having contractions irregularly every 15 to 20 minutes for about 10 hours then they checked me and i was only 3 centimeters so they took out the cervidel, it was 10 pm at that point so we decided to wait till the morning to start potocin but i sat up to for the first time in hours and my water broke on its own so they had to start the potocin. At about 12 am i was about 4 centimeters, it was slow going but definitely getting stronger and closer. At 5 am i was ready to push and at 5:50am she was born! It took 20 hours but the worst of it was only the last 5 hours or so. I think that what took the longest was having the cervidel on my cervix instead of starting right off with the potocin.
t555rm (818.6 days ago) I was induced with pitocin at 4.30 pm and only had my baby the next day at 10:45am altho I was fully dilated by 6:15am. Pushing took over 4 hrs. When they induced me I was at 2 cm and 2 hrs later when they broke my water I was at 4cm. I remember the doctor saying that my cervix was very posterior and boy did that process of breaking water hurt! I bore the contraction pains till 5 cm and then I got the epi. Actually the pain wasn`t too bad till then but I wanted to get some rest for the night and conserve energy for the pushing part. Thank God I got that epi! Everything was smooth until the actual delivery part. That was nightmare!
adriana03 (818.6 days ago) They broke my water on accident so they said they had to start making prgress they gave me pit.. I went in at around 3 cm and about 2 1/2 hrs later baby was out.
jekajoy (818.6 days ago) I was induced and was 0 dilated and 0 thinned. I progressed at 1 cm per 4 hrs. I had pitocin and my water broken and I just wouldn`t progress. After 16 hrs, 4 cm dilated, and 85% thin they decided failure to progress and took me for csection. I often blame it on inducing when my body clearly wasn`t ready, she hadn`t dropped and my cervix was thick, long and closed. I won`t be induced this time. I`d love to VBAC but we`ll see how my body does on it`s own.
heathert (818.6 days ago) wow wildbunch that is the way to go!
BabyBsmomma (Joni) (818.6 days ago) My water broke on it`s own, but when we got to the hospital and i was checked (a few hours later) i was still barely a 2- which is what i had been at 38/39 weeks, so they had me go walking for awhile...when they checked again i still hadn`t really progressed so they started pitocin with me. My contractions really didn`t get going till 6 30/7 pm (my water had broke at 245 pm) and i had her at 1:18 am.
heathert (818.6 days ago) All four of mine were around 10 hours. The 2nd and 4th (11 days ago) after my water was broke went fast and I missed the Epi. I was getting it at a 4 this time but there were 3 other women needing it too, he came in the next day to say sorry. He is my parents neighbor. I waited 2 hours being told he is coming then I needed to push thank goodness it went fast but the nurse caught her as the dr walked in the door. I had pitocin first then he breaks the water when your a 3-4. I was only a 1 when I went in and she was still really high. It took me a long time to pogress but once my water is broke with them all I go fast.
yorkc39 (818.6 days ago) I was induced, and ive heard induction is terrible, but it wasn`t for me. The first 10 hours felt like nothing, I felt pressure which was the contractions, but it didn`t hurt really. At midnight or so, my labor wasn`t progressing, so they decided to break my waters, then it started hurting and progressed so fast that I didn`t have time to get drugs lol, so out she came 2 hours later.
