Oh yeah, and that same nurse just minutes before when it was time for delivery, actually told me to close my legs because I had to wait on the doctor to get there. Now, I didn`t have any meds so I was ready to push and most of you know, that urge to push is no joke. U can`t just close your legs and will it to stop. I had to sneak and push, lol, cause she was giving me these looks like, `u better not be pushing`

My personal `staff` were pretty good and normal to me. My sisters got mad at my nurse because right after I gave birth, u know, the doc was sewing me up and stuff but I was on my phone texting (I know, crazy, right?) my sister. She was asking if they could come in to see the baby. I asked my doc and he said it was okay as long as they stayed in the foyer part of my room. So they came expecting to see their new nephew but my nurse shut that down real quick and not so politely told them they would have to wait because her patient was still receiving care

My story is exactly like nutnut`s except it was a 36 hour ordeal and they didn`t cath me until AFTER I delivered, then they extracted just over 2 liters of urine. Needless to say, it prolonged my pushing bc I had a 2 liter in the way! It wound up taking 6 hours of pushing! They were about to give me a csection! I honestly don't know how my bladder didn't burst. The thing that pisses me off the most is that I kept telling them that I had to pee, and asking them to give me a container so I could dip my hands in warm water. I can't believe that nobody suggested a catheter.

I had to stay in hospital for 3 weeks after my twins were born because they were prem. We were trying various feeding methods in order to get them home quicker. Of course I needed help feeding them overnight as they were having breast milk in bottles and I had never given a bottle before and didn`t know what to do. I had one midwife tell me, and I quote `It might pay to get to know your babies a little better before you take them home`. I didn`t know what to say. I almost burst in to tears. I was so angry at myself later on for not saying something. The last night I was in hospital she was the midwife on and she kept coming to my room all night to see if I needed help and each time I replied `No thank you, I`m fine on my own`. I think the stupid cow was shocked to see me able to nurse them successfully all night on my own. She also encouraged me to put them to sleep on their tummies!!

There was one rude nurse who asked me why I wasn`t getting an epidural, I told her that I wanted to go natural, and she said she thought I wasn`t going to make it, more or less. When she saw me later (After I DID give birth naturally) she said that was why I tore. (I had a 4th degree tear, and there was some correlation b/c I had the urge to push at 6 cms, but STILL, grrr). Worst was probably the man who was in there while I was pushing (he had to do some kind of exam on the baby when she came out) and as I was pushing he was LAUGHING at me. I was so mad...but I guess that helped me push with more vigor. LOL

I was in L&D for 27 hours before my DD was born, went through 3 shifts of nurses, lol..and all were absolutely wonderful :) And for the 2 days PP they were all great too. My one complaint was that I had IV antibiotics for 24hours after my delivery. It stayed in the whole time when it could have been taken off me once the bag was done and then put back on for the next bag. But the nurses were too busy to do that, the pole with the IV was attached to me the whole time which was pretty difficult to maneuver when I had to go the bathroom and for sleeping and for getting up to get my DD, etc. Other than that, they were great :)

Oh boy, too many to list them all, and thankfully I had more positive experiences than negative, but the negative sure do stick out! When pregnant with my son, I was in the hospital for 80 days before he was born because I had major damage to my back - entire right side was numb from nerve compression... the worst experience was a nurse telling me to `shut up crying` and that there was no problem with the epidural in my back. (I`d had an epidural in from 32 weeks onwards) She was also about to give me a drug called Toradol - safe for AFTER delivery for the mother as a pain reliever, but toxic (VERY toxic) to a fetus in the third trimester. I had been crying about my back because I thought the epidural site was infected. The following morning, after spending the night in the most extreme pain, the shift changed and my OB came to visit. She took one look at my back and all hell broke loose. Sure enough there was an abscess and infection where the epidural entered my back and into my spine. The rest of day I spent getting an MRI, and then a major course of antibiotics. Worst ten days of my life followed. That nurse was `written up` and removed from the maternity ward, but was not suspended. Grr!

When I was having my son despite my pain I was very polite to everyone but still a certain nurse on the shift just had no bedside manner. I was about 7-8 cm at 4:40pm and just wasnt budging- so she left the room- literally within like 10-15 min I started screaming bc I felt pressure and she rolled her eyes and thought I was basically crying wolf telling me its ok its normal- I kept insisting no you dont understand this baby is coming out. She sighs and rolled her eyes again and literally took her sweet ass time and I started pushing bc she wouldnt listen to me- turns out I was loosing blood and was already 10 and baby was corwning the doc barely got there in time to catch him. Has she actually listened to me as a patient and not been so judgemental thinking I was just those women that couldnt take the pain or anything else- I would have been able to having a better pushing experience.

Yeah, I got a letter in the mail asking me to do a review on her so maybe she`s gotten some complaints? lol I said she was awful when I did the review but she`s still there because I was at the pharmacy onbase which is right next to OBGYN and I saw her.

You mean, telling me to calm down while in labor and also that I`m not allowed to move? Or do you mean the specialists rolling their eyes at each other when my DH asked them if it was ok to hold our son for the 1st time before they took him away for `monitoring`. He was fine too! The whole story is WAY too long to share here, but for this pregnancy we are going with a midwife and home birth unless something major happens and we need to go to the hospital!

ok my story is I went into preterm labor at 29 wks. I had gone to the LD with pains that they thought were a UTI. The nurse checked my and said your not dilated but you are soft. They told me to make an appt with my doc the next day so i did. Saw her at her office in a diff city and she checked me and I was 1cm dilated so she rushed me off to LD again, I got shots to stop it and was told to watch carefully and bedrest. Well the next day I got the pains back so I returned to LD. My doc was the on call doc and was standing at the front desk when we arrived, do you know she didn`t even acknowledge me? Acted like she had no idea who i was and then she never once came in to actually see how i was doing the whole 8 hr i was there? i was soooo pissed i call the office the next day and ditched her as a doc!

About an hour after my daughter was born she wouldnt stop screaming, it sounded like she was in pain I had to ask the nurses about 5 times to come and see her or get the doctor to check her out.

With my first son I had one rude nurse, but only had to deal with her a couple times - other then that during both of my pregnancies and deliveries I had wonderful and supportive midwives, nurses and of course the doctor (same with both) was fantastic! My sister on the other hand had a such a HORRIBLE nurse during labor with her son - the midwife actually yelled at the nurse bc she was that rude & being that stupid (yes, I mean stupid!)

hillaryandmikesbaby (818.4 days ago)
only that they said i was positive for PCP and called DYFS on me.. no biggie.. haha extreme sarcasm.

thumper (818.5 days ago)
haha with my son my first midwife asked me how much allowance my partner gave me and what did i plan to do when he left me, my second midwife was really nice, this pregnancy my first midwife asked me not to bring my son to appointments as she thought he was a health and safety issue and jotted my notes on post it notes, my friend who recently had a baby went private as she thought the treatment would be better, she got torn in labour when her doc stitched her up she said she and her partner should be greatfull now she has a designer vagina as it looks way better than before birth

brendalee (818.5 days ago)
One of the midwives I had told me my stretch marks were a disease and made me sit in the room with my shirt off and door wide open because she wanted as many opinions as possible on it. And when I was induced she left me in the L&D triage room alone for four hours with out coming in even once.

Oh yeahhh my ob sucked big time. While pregnant he wouldt answer my questions and while in labour i was 10 cms and badly needed to push and screamed at the nurse to go get him he was right outside the door and she said hes having coffee wtf!!! and i must just wait i got real pissed off and screamed at her and he came waltzing in and asks me why im so rude and then i just started pushing he when i pushed i made noises and he said i musnt make ANY noises and he MADE me stop pushing like how the hell does he know how it feels the noises came by itself.U cant just make a woman stop pushhing, its cruel. To this day whoever i see and talk to i mention just stay away from Dr van der westhuizen.Next time im gonna try taking a midwife.

most of the staff was wonderful when i had my daughter. but i had this one nurse that didnt believe me when i told her i couldnt urinate. she kept telling me it was supposed to hurt at first and i should keep drinking juice. i did what she said, even tho pain wasnt preventing me from going. i just couldnt push it out. needless to say i kept telling her i was having trouble and she kept blowing it off like i was over exaggerating or lying. 15hrs later after a whole night of me pacing the floor in tears a new nurse came in and flipped out bc i told her what happened. when she cathed me she needed a bucket. she said if i wouldve waited much longer i wouldve burst and all those toxins would be in my body. she was furious on my behalf. to this day i still have bladder issues. it was not a good experience. after that that other nurse disappeared, at least i didnt see her. i didnt follow up or try to sue or anything. i just wanted to go home lol. stupid nurse. she wasnt rude, she was just stupid. im pretty sure she got suspended at least but i never went back to find out.

  1. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  2. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  3. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  4. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  5. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  6. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  7. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
  8. MODS ~ please help me in monitoring the photo pages and other pages. Horrific porn was posted in photos sections and they need to be deleted as soon as they are seen. I reported it to Laura also. TX!!
  9. my 4 yr old has 3 planter warts on his foot,.. any home remedies gals or is this a dr visit?
  10. ok ladies, sry its long but i really need some advice, a year ago my 5 yr old brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, over the last year my mom has had a hard time dealing with his diagnosis because there is no cure and all she can do is give him 5 insulin shots a day to keep him alive, she looks at it like march 13th 2011 was the death of her healthy little boy and she woke up with this sick child, well i always tell her she needs to go to counseling to learn how to cope with this but lately i`m more worried about my baby brother, he came home the other day from kindergarten and had a picture of a red headed boy with a knife, 3 people under the ground dead and another one on top of the ground covered in blood, he recently grabbed one of my 15 yr old brother`s pocket knives out and started swinging it at my older brother because they were fighting, and then he told my mother he wanted to be a serial killer when he grows up! he has said before that he wishes he would die, that he didn`t want to wake up the next morning,.....
