angie2008 (817.2 days ago) some of my bf friends said things to him after we found out i was having a girl. not i`m sorry but other little smirks, i didn`t care much because i knew he would love his little girl. she is a year old now and her daddy`s little princess. He was much happier though when we found out we were having a boy the 2nd time around! I think it`s just a mans thing to want to make a boy.
hollysnum2 (817.2 days ago) I think it has something to do with them being a daddy. All of my friends are guys and I grew up with two older brothers. When I was preggo with my DD everyone told my hubby that they were sorry. Because when you have a boy, you only have to worry about one penis, with a girl you have to worry about everyone elses! Plus, Daddys tend to be overprotective of their little girls!
AngieP (817.3 days ago) We had a boy first and now have a daughter. I was very unsure about having a girl and secretly wanted all boys. My husband really wanted a girl the second time around until someone mentioned how difficult teenage girls are then he was a little scared. Now that I have my baby girl I wouldn`t have it any other way. I am very happy that I got my boy though. I have always wanted a boy. I`m excited to see what my little girl is going to be like when she gets older.

raycheldavey (817.4 days ago) my husband wanted a boy and we`re having a girl. and his dad wanted a grandson so he was like `oh that sucks, oh well another granddaughter.`
MelissaJoanne (817.4 days ago) From friends, no. One of my husband`s clients (or, former clients now, who is a sexist racist all around miserable guy) said that it was too bad that my husband had a girl, because he couldn`t do `guy things` with her (though hus. and I joked that my daughter does like to pee standing up, so doing 'guy things' like that together shouldn`t be a problem!). When hus. asked what `guy things` he wouldn`t be able to do with his daughter, the guy had no real answer, other than playing football with her, which hus. doesn`t do anyway. Hus. did tell the guy that girls do play sports too. Lame. My brother has 3 sons, and thinks it ridiculous when guys act as though he`s somehow more manly for having three boys.
kohlsmommy (817.5 days ago) I think they said it because they know how scary teenage girls are. I`m terrified to have a girl (even though I want one) because I was such a nightmare as a teenager. My husband doesn`t want one because of the `boy` issue lol. He doesn`t want to see his little girl with a boy or pregnant- EVER! But who cares what his friends want! I`m happy for you! lol
nutnut (817.5 days ago) im thinking maybe they were kidding like `im sorry` bc they have girls and girls are harder or something? not that i think girls are harder than boys lol. (at least not til they hit their preteens lol) otherwise i dunno why they would say such a thing seriously. i mean i wanted another girl but i didnt not want a boy either. just bc if i had a girl i was all set with stuff they could share a room, i knew what to expect etc. etc. since im having a boy i need alot of new stuff lol. but im not disappointed or anything.
SharaLynn (817.5 days ago) I think they might have been joking.. But still. We found out yesterday and he told me last night that not one of his friends that he told said they were happy for him, the generally reaction was `I`m sorry`.
I dunno... I know that he was secretly hoping for a boy, but now he`s just as excited as I am for a girl. I just don`t understand what it is about these guys that they think that the first child should be a male. :-P
Good thing guys don`t ALL get what they wish or the human race would probably die out within a few years.
KFinTX (817.5 days ago) DH didn`t want a girl first, so when we found out it was a boy, he was ecstatic. The main reason for his not wanting a girl first was the fact that he`s a middle school teacher and sees regularly how cruel they are to each other. His logic is that if there`s a big brother, it will hopefully cut down on that a bit. I`m not sure how accurate his logic is, but hey... he`s a guy. So I can see how guys would issue an apology, even though it`s not happy to hear. Also, they might be thinking about the fact that baby girls have a tendency to be a bit more costly than baby boys because of all the cute stuff mom wants to buy for her princess. Other than those 2 things... I got no idea why they would do it.
