alugo (815.2 days ago) This is how I thought about it, if you are considering getting it. If you do get sick with the flu, it will be horrible on your body and it can harm your unborn child. What the shot does is give your body the ability to detect H1N1 by telling it how to make the antibodies to attack it. Without it your body has first try and recognize this unknown strand and then figure out how to make them which takes longer and is why you become ill. It also becomes harder for your body to fight at that point. Now there are 2 H1N1 shots, one with and one without preservatives (Mercury) and this is why most women object. The shot WITH mercury contains no more than one can of tuna fish - which is safe to eat during pregnancy. The one Without is without mercury at all. I hope this helps. Sometimes it just helps to be educated. I thank my lucky stars I did get it after contemplating not to because now 5 of my neighbors have it -and I thought I was in an area without outbreak! :)
