hopefully3 (813.8 days ago) i definitely think its a matter of choice. i waited for years to be able to stay at home with my kids! And am so happy now that i am able to and wouldnt want it any other way. But its not right for everyone and i dont think a mother is a bad mom because she works!
thumper (813.8 days ago) ooo by the way i dint work before kids either except for a few years while studying i worked but i havent worked in over 4 years so i probably like being a stay home mum as it gives me something to do but if we needed the money i guess i would work
nutnut (813.8 days ago) ive been on both sides. i actually want to go back to work at least part time. i need adult conversation during the day, and to use my brain and my talents more than i do. its a personal feeling. i love being home for my daughter but i really do need adult time. i feel very isolated in the house all day.mom`s should do whats best for them and their family. if dad is the one staying home, so be it. it doesnt matter so long as the children are being provided for, and are loved thats all that matters. staying home is great, but speaking from someone who always held a full time job (even two jobs at times), i do miss conversation, socialization, and well honestly having money for things. lol but to each their own. right now, its in my daughters benifit that i am home, and i will remain home for now. =)
thumper (814 days ago) i love being a stay at home mom, and wouldnt change it for the world, im very cautious of day care mainly due to the affects it can have one young children that came out in psychology reports in the uk, but its not for everyone, each to there own
canadababy (814.3 days ago) My DD is 9months old and I`m starting to look forward to going back to work in January. Part time would be ideal but I have to go back full time....but it`s hard staying at home! If you can handle it, all the power to you, but I definitely don`t think ALL moms should stay at home :)
angelinarichter (814.4 days ago) Thanks for all the comments, ladies! a lot of helpful insight, I also do love to work, and thats why this is so conflicting, but I believe in this day and age, there`s no better investment for you or your family then education, I don`t want to never not work again, I just want to have a career, not a job, if that makes sense.
Str8 As (814.4 days ago) I think no one can care for my children better than me; I would like to be a sahm. It def should be a choice at least for the first 4years of life. However, there are women who do like to work. I guess it depends on the family and the individual.
5against1 (814.4 days ago) no. i think all moms should do what is best for them.
Amalthea (814.4 days ago) Speaking from my experience, I love staying home with my son.... it was sooo hard on my and my dh to look at daycares, they were all soooo pricey..my salary would pretty much pay for the childcare..seemed silly to us...So I started staying home with my son.. hes now nearly 2 and i started staying home with him when we was about 9 months old... and now i am pregnant with #2 and its soooo perfect! I dont have to worry about working while preggo and maternity leave
angie2008 (814.4 days ago) i would love the chance to stay at home with my dd but i realize that being a stay at home mom isn`t for everyone. I think every mom should have the opportunity to stay home if they want.
angelinarichter (814.4 days ago) Its different for me, I have financial aid and must be in school full time to keep it, I am going to school for nursing and will be done in 2/3 years, plus I am on medicaid so I can`t work as many hours as I`d like to right now so when I weigh it out, being full time in school is much more worth it to me than putting aside my school for work when I`ll be job hunting forever or can have a real job in a few years and struggle a bit now, but I can`t help feeling slightly like a loser without a job, even if I left it willingly. PLUS I`d like to raise my kids myself, not have a daycare do it for me.
jekajoy (814.4 days ago) I can only speak for myself but I would love to stay at home with my kiddos, unfortunately, I am a full time nurse. Even just one shift a week would be nice, you know...to get out once and a while but not have to put my kids in daycare so much.
