kimmarie (813.2 days ago) I am a single mom and I found a home day care that cost significantly less than your average day care. The home day care still has to be accredited by the state so you aren`t getting anything less. But I do know that you can apply to the state for assistance.
nutnut (813.6 days ago) i was making about 30k and still qualified however i had to pay the maxium weekly allowance which was 50.00 per week from my own pocket which was alot better than paying 150.00 per week! they told me the wait list was long, but it wasnt as long as they suggested. sometimes people who qualify end up turning it down for whatever reasons, so it moves you up on the list.
lovemyfamily (813.6 days ago) Subsidized means if you`re low income you apply for it and the government pays most of the childcare costs. HOWEVER, it doesn`t always work out. I live in the city and every daycare has a 1-2 year waiting list... which is why we had to opt for homecare instead
yorkc39 (813.6 days ago) how do you subsidize daycare?
canadababy (813.7 days ago) In Canada they subsidize daycare according to your income, do they have anything like this where you`re from? Worth looking into :)
lovemyfamily (813.7 days ago) Ooh and I also think this is why so many women are on Social assistance (welfare) because a lot of single moms don`t qualify for higher paying jobs and minimum wage jobs make it impossible to survive on!
courtenay (813.7 days ago) well im not technically working, but i go to school full time so its the same amount of time out of the home. lucky for me i qualify for max child care subsidy so 975$/month for full time childcare only costs me $225
lovemyfamily (813.7 days ago) I am not a single parent...but what we do is homecare. She goes to a woman`s home who watches her from 7:30 to 5:30 and she charges 30$ a day. Which equals out to be 150/week Not bad in my opinion..oh and if it were based on my income alone, I clear 360 a week so no it doesn`t leave me with much. lol
