shesAWKWARD (806.9 days ago) i wouldnt risk it my peds doc told me the reason they freak on their back cause the are used to being bundled tight in the belly so they fell like they are free falling. so i got a sleep positioner and she loves it and a sleeping bag out fit that has a swaddler. that helps put them to sleep. but with SIDS being so widely known now their have ben a lot less deaths then our parents time. so i just wouldnt risk it :) UNLESS you can watch them.
hannahe (807.2 days ago) i put mine on thier stomachs once they were able to lift their heads and turn it from side to side. i would think that as long as nothing could block his face at night to obstruct his breathing he should be fine, as almost all of our parents were told that the stomach was the `safe` way, and we are clearly all alive. but i do know the docs now say dont do it. so there you go, not much help :)
armymom (807.4 days ago) yep, I layed my son down to sleep on his stomach starting at a 1 week old. He wouldn`t sleep whatsoever on his back so this was the only way either of us would get some shut eye. I`ve never been the type to follow all the rules anyways.
KR (807.4 days ago) it doesnt count on your chest. The reason you put nb`s on their back if they cant roll yet is because if something interrupt their air passage they dont have neck support to move and will smother. If he or she is on your chest you are clearly there to watch baby!
MercyMe (807.4 days ago) ONLY if they turn over themselves...once they start doing that you don`t have to freak out as much, as long as you have no soft anything in their cribs. I was watching Dr.G, Medical Examiner...and a baby died @ 3 or 4 months because the mom put him to sleep, face down, ON A PILLOW!!!!
rosye13 (807.4 days ago) On my chest . . . Does that count?
linzigenavieve (807.4 days ago) I let them if they roll over themselves. You can`t really stop it at that point. lol. :)
jaychay (807.4 days ago) when my son was 6 weeks old he had very good neck support he had bad colic and would olny settle on his tummy. i was so scared letting him sleep that was i stayed up and watched him he is now 12 1/2 months and still sleeps on his tummy.
KR (807.4 days ago) only if they roll over that way on their own. That means their neck muscles are strong enough to sleep this way. If they cant roll over on their own they they should be put to sleep on their back.
chevychic96 (807.4 days ago) My son is 7 weeks old and will only sleep `sound` on his stomach. I only let him sleep this way during the day when I can watch him....at night he just fusses on his back and ends up in his swing. He is not very good with lifting his head up yet, but I have never had any problems with him during the day on his stomach. I am ready to let him just sleep in his stomach at night too and of course my parents and family say go ahead cause that`s what they did, but the doctors say NO. Let me know what you think or if you have any advice! Thanks!
