Aiona (713.9 days ago) I`ve seen some babies with formula feeding with cradle cap too, actually. My son had a little bit in the NICU, but one of the older nurses gave us a little plastic brush (the kind one uses for surgical scrubbing), and recommended that we scrub his head with it when bathing him. We did that and it went away. We stopped doing it with the brush because my mom was worried about hurting his head, and it came back. We tried washing with a washcloth, and that still didn`t help. So we went back to the brush, and it`s stayed away ever since! :)
natalie75 (773.3 days ago) I bottlefed both of my sons and they both had craddle cap, I would rub some oil on their heads and the bath.
bluejeans (773.6 days ago) I bottlefed my 2 and they both had cradle cap so I dont think the two are linked.
RobinG (773.6 days ago) I dont believe there is a link, my son Hunter is 26 months old and his is TERRIBLE still and he was formula fed. I use unrefined shea butter and it helps and a nice comb that can gently remove it too. ((hugs))
MiniOface (773.6 days ago) My doc said cradle cap/baby acne is from the baby absorbing my hormones at birth and that it will fade with time. She has been right so far, DS had horrid acne but it is gone now (i never put anything on it) the cradle cap is gone too but she said to put some olive oil (let it sit overnight) and in the morning brush the opposite way of his hair to remove the flakes that were stuck. I did that twice and gone. DS is EBF and 3 months.
Str8 As (773.7 days ago) All of mine had slight cradle cap. The ped told me to use Head and Shoulders Shampoo (sensitive scalp) 2-3 times a week. It cleared up after 2 usages. Hope it works out for you ;-)
LKLmama (773.7 days ago) I have also bf 2 babies and neither had it. I have heard putting breastmilk on the cradlecap helps too!
shesxchaotic (773.7 days ago) My son barely had ant whereas my friends FF son has it SUPER bad! We just put a little baby oil on it a few times a day and used a soft brush and it came right out.
T3POandR2D2 (773.7 days ago) However, my son is breastfed and he never had it.
T3POandR2D2 (773.7 days ago) Cradle cap doesn`t last forever. There is no need to stop nursing or try and change your diet.
JMendez (773.7 days ago) My daughter had mild cradle cap and I BF. I just put baby oil on it after her tubbies and it was gone within the first few times of doing this. =) Good luck to you!!
LKLmama (773.7 days ago) The only thing I would think of for you to change is to cut yeast out of YOUR diet and load up on probiotics!
canadababy (773.7 days ago) I`ve never heard of the connection either :) I just put oil on her head and gently combed away the skin. I had to do this 2 or 3 times and it went away. I too only washed her hair maybe twice a week.
happymommee2kj (773.7 days ago) I have never heard of this. My son had it and he was breastfed but also every baby I know that was formula fed also had it.
EllaG (773.7 days ago) My doc said that its caused by the baby absorbing adult hormones through my milk and to just either put on oil or moisturise her head after a bath, and only bathe her 2-3 times a week. I don`t want to stop breastfeeding just yet and have no intention of doing so - I`d much prefer to somehow alter the composition of my milk to reduce the hormones that she is getting - if it is possible to do so without also reducing the nutritional values of the milk.
maimai (773.7 days ago) I breastfed and my daughter had mild craddle cap. I used to put baby oil on her head after she had had a bath and it cleared up really quickly.
hotpotaaaaato (773.7 days ago) both my girls were exclusively breastfed and my first had NO cradle cap whatsoever.... whereas my second had terrible cradle cap, so hearing that there`s a link is so confusing to me. Never heard of that before. It will go away over time, and your doc can give suggestions to help it. Good luck!
