I have started to already, but I plan to continue forever hopefully :) I have looked into unschooling now as another member on this site does it with her children and I have found tons of benefits and it definitely feels like it`s the direction we`ll be taking

uhh well im still young and all and i am a teen parent which i do understand protecting your children from other kids that are complete perverts and in florida the schooling sucks.their too focused on standerize testing but im broke and i need to get a job and go to school myself but i dont think it will make much of a diffrence if they go to public school or not.its just how you talk to your kids my dad didnt care enough about me so i was dumb and looked for love in the oh so wrong place.

Homeschooling is not popular around here either but most of the parents around here are teen moms who got knocked up in high shcool. The public schools are horrendous and completely below par. I will homeschool my kids to spare them the injustice of sending them to these disgusting public schools here. If I lived somewhere else I wouldn`t mind sending them to public school. Private school is not an option either since they`re worse than the public schools.

I was homeschooled, there were many many benefits, however I work full time and do not plan to homeschool. If I were in a position to do so and/or my daughter had issues with a public school environment then I would in a heartbeat.

We home-school for pre-school with a co-op of several other mommies. Sending her to a regular pre-school was too expensive - several hundred dollars a month plus application fees, material fees and a 100 plus hours of volunteering (with an 80 dollar fine per hour missed) is standard in this area. I was homeschooled growing up so I wasn`t worried about the details of it. My first choice will be to send her to school when she`s old enough (our public schools here are great!), but if it doesn`t work out we`ll discuss other options.

I agree every parent homeschools to an extent, at least I would hope they did. I considered it with my son after he was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, but luckily we found a private school that specials in Autism Spectrum Disorders that we could transport him back and forth to.

Homeschooling is not very popular where I live.

  1. Is SaraKelly still on here? I know she was a mod but I didn`t see her post in the previous Who Is A Mod poll...
  2. ANGRY!!!! My jenakers account is missing my ENTIRE journal from my high risk pregnancy and my letthisonestick account for my 7 month old is completely gone along with my journal. I AM SICK OVER IT!
  3. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  4. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  5. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  6. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  7. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  8. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  9. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
  10. MODS ~ please help me in monitoring the photo pages and other pages. Horrific porn was posted in photos sections and they need to be deleted as soon as they are seen. I reported it to Laura also. TX!!
