jessberr31 (740.6 days ago) My oldest son has had croup about 10 times. He is almost 9 now. They used to give him this Rx cough syrup called Rondec and it worked a miracle on his cough! He wouldn`t have slept a wink without it. He would be so tired he would just cry and cough until he got that. I would ask about it and tell them your lo can not sleep at all. They didn`t give any antibiotics or anything like that. But he had a steroid shot a few times at the ER. Then I do the steam bathroom or cold air too. Either can work. I used to give my son ice chips to suck on b/c all the coughing would make his throat so sore. Croup SUCKS!
soon2be3 (740.8 days ago) We`ve always been told cool/cold air too. The steamy bathroom hasn`t worked with us. Our two oldest get viral/cold induced asthma and have had croup a couple times too. Watch her carefully. My second child needed to have the oral steriod when he was about 2. He was having difficulty breathing. It was very scary. If her breathing is rapid and shallow, I would take her in again.

domsmom2009 (741 days ago) i got this when i was 6 or 7 and my mom would bring me outside and it would really help
ProudMomma3x (741 days ago) Cool air is the BEST medicine, everytime my kids had it I dressed them warm and opened window at night so room was cool when sleeping and when coughing got rough (even if below 30 outside), we sat outside on porch with blankets. It ALWAYS worked! Misty air helps but cool air is best
*happiestmommy* (741 days ago) Put a tsp of honey in some warmed up apple juice. I would also suggest sitting in a steamy bathroom. Also, I`m not sure whether breathing treatments help croup but talk to ur doc about nebulizer treatments.
LKLmama (741 days ago) Sitting in a steeled up bathroom or sitting outside in the cool air.
