i was a quick learner & kind of quick for my age, my parents didnt monitor me and i spoke to all types of people i shouldnt have - if u decide to allow your child to use this, watch it closely...

it depends on the child. my 10 year old has one, but only to send silly stuff to her sister. I also keep tabs on all the email, myspace, facebook stuff of all my kids

My son is 8 and he has his own email account, I do have access to it. We mainly set it up for him so he can keep in contact with his aunt who lives in Australia :)

I think when they are old enough to actually need an e-mail account. I wasn`t on the internet until i was in college! Had no need before then.
