emilyelizabeth (728.4 days ago) Its perfectly fine... as i learned, in africa, the mothers have their babies on them 24/7.. i think it`s fine...
mrsjmickens1 (729.1 days ago) i just want to thank you for a poll that actually raises some important questions and helped inform me on something i had no idea about!!
shesxchaotic (729.2 days ago) I want to add that there are bag type carriers on the market like the Infantino SlingRider that have caused multiple deaths to infants due to asphyxia. They have a lawsuit against them but they`re still being sold. Just because something is deadly or hazardous, doesn`t mean it can`t be sold. Same with Bjorn's. They aren't safe but are still sold.
T3POandR2D2 (729.3 days ago) JakesMummy, did you read the study? Sorry, but it is true. The whole `If it was so bad they wouldn`t sell it` theory is kind of silly when you think about it.... They sell A LOT of things that are bad for you.
MelissaJoanne (729.4 days ago) If he`s in a sleepy wrap, than no your friend is way wrong. Other than the bjorn issues (blech), on your body is a wonderful place to sleep. My 15 mo old still naps on me sometimes (in the Ergo)
shesxchaotic (729.4 days ago) Ugh. Bjorn carriers are awful! He sleeps in a Sleepy Wrap. He`s actually sleeping on me right now in it haha.
T3POandR2D2 (729.4 days ago) Right. An Ergo is an AMAZING carrier. A Bjorn? Never. The article is about the bjorn style carriers putting too much pressure on the spine.
LKLmama (729.4 days ago) I want to make it clear that Ergos are not in the same category as Bjorns. The article is more about crappy carriers not the safety of sleeping in a good one worn properly.
T3POandR2D2 (729.4 days ago) Christinaswar - ugh... I know! I hate any kind of carrier that is bjorn style. To try and list all the negatives of it would be impossible!
LKLmama (729.4 days ago) There are many issues with bjorn carriers!!! :)
T3POandR2D2 (729.4 days ago) http://www.continuum-concept.org/reading/spinalStress.html There you go.
T3POandR2D2 (729.4 days ago) The issue with napping in carriers (pouch style or bjorn type only) is that it compresses their lungs. The same goes for sleeping in the carseat. It hinders their breathing. I`ll look for the link on it.
juels101 (729.4 days ago) Lol I wouldnt call it `un healthy` at all. It might be in convienent for you if your little one won`t sleep anywhere elts, but hey if it works for you then it`s just fine. I make sure to sleep baby in her crib for one nap time and for night time, but that is my personal preferance, to get sleeping patterns early and not have to do it later when they might fuss about it. I`m sure plenty of moms do the same thing you do
smiling politely (729.5 days ago) its unhealthy if by `healthy` you mean fully detached, and not wanting to be close to you. if you enjoy it, why stop? babies are running on instinct. they know the best and safest place is right with you. i like to look at parenting babies in the context of imagining first humans and their lifestyles, as that is how i feel babies are instinctually happiest. babies (of early times) left on their own to sleep away from their family group would get eaten by wild animals or die of hypothermia-therefore, they are made to need to stay close with their caregivers. babies dont know which year they were born in-its all instinct.
shesxchaotic (729.5 days ago) We co-sleep so my son rarely sleeps in his crib. I could count on one hand how many times he`s slept in there.
LKLmama (729.5 days ago) Napping in a crib isnt important either. My daughter sleeps a lot while I wear her. She is almost 2 and I am 34 weeks pregnant. No problems yet!
mdbabyno1 (729.5 days ago) I say as long as he naps well in his own crib as well it shouldn`t be a problem. you just don`t want babies getting used to sleeping on you for the comfort or they will expect that all the time. Not to mention soon enough he will get too heavy for you to do all that while wearing him
