Baby-poll poll I have a question for you ladies, Im apologizing in advance if its kind of long.....So today after being 3 days late with my period I decided to take a HPT. I know they say they take 3 minutes or whatever to develop but I have always just waited the time it takes to see the urine travel through the test and and activate the control line...So 20 seconds after peeing on it the control line appeared and no other line, so I figured; negative! I tossed it....well 4 hours later I walk by my waste basket in my bathrrom which was empty except for the test and sure enough I saw 2 lines....My question is: I know they say after a certain amount of time the test is invalid, but could a time lapse really make a line appear? I was under the impression that the line came up when they was HCG in the urine, I cant see how an extra few hours could magically make these hormones appear and make a line on the test....I am going to test again I just have to wait for my hubby to get home so he can watch my daughter while I go....

I think its a positive regardless of how long it sat....
Its probably a false positive as it sat around for a few hours....
I have no clue....

I have had what look like positive on cheap tests they had a small amount of color after 10 minutes but I wasn`t pregnant, and it has happened so often I stopped buying cheap tests.

The same thing happned to me with this pregnancy!! I waited a little longer than 20 sec, but sure enough we are preggers!! Congrats sweetie!

I wouldnt have tossed at after 20 seconds. You should check it around 5-10 mins. for a faint positive it can take more hten 20 seconds. Mine took about 2 minutes to show when I was very early. But if it is not there after 10-15 mins then yes it is neg and should be tossed. Just cause the control line showed up first doesnt mean it is a negative. I know evap lines can show but with me I never have an evap line show up hours later. I would retest and check it at ten minutes and right after peeing before tossing out.

ive heard of lines dissapearing after several hours;but never them APPERARING! i would DEFF bet my money that yr preggers!

I took multiple tests before my BFP, and the first ones were negative, and stayed negative after dried.... then they started to be negative during the time frame but would be positive after the time frame.... and that happened for a few days leading up to my BFP DURING the test time frame! I would say just wait and test again in the morning as that is the best time to test. Good luck!

I tested with my second and had a very very faint second line. It showed up after 5 minutes.. I thought + for sure. I went to the clinic and had a test come up inconclusive. When i went home i was going insane.. so i had my husband buy a digital. Simple and easy pregnant came up!

It was indeed a cheap test....Im think Im gonna go buy one of those digital tests so there is no questioning the results and of course Im going to give it enough time to develop before discarding it....as for evaporation lines, are they typically faint or dark lines? The line on my test is fairly dark...

I would retest, I`ve had tests come up with 2 lines after a while when they were evaporation lines and I was not actually pregnant.

i voted false positive. I had never seen that happen until just recently a friend of mine took 2 HPTs (cheap ones) that turned up positive after 10min. the test says void after 10 min and it took the full 10 min to show a line. I said girl your pregnant! well she went to her DR who thought she was pregnant too after hearing about the 2 HPTs and did a bHCG test that came back negative. all 3 tests were done on the same day. my mother on the other hand took an HPT after an IVF cycle and it was negative and came back 45 min later in hopes that it changed and it did. she had never seen a false pos and it was not a cheap test. she had a bHCG a day or two later that was BFP. so its hard to tell, is this a cheap test? if so i recommend getting the first response. It detected mine before I even missed AF and they always showed up maybe 2 min after the urine passed and the control line popped up.

The exact same thing happened to me! Was it a First Response Test? If so I'd say yes you`re pregnant! The next test you take you`ll probably see the line right away but just as faint.. I`d wait until the morning if you only have one test left!

  1. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.

  3. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!

Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them.   7. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)

  10. ok ladies, sry its long but i really need some advice, a year ago my 5 yr old brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, over the last year my mom has had a hard time dealing with his diagnosis because there is no cure and all she can do is give him 5 insulin shots a day to keep him alive, she looks at it like march 13th 2011 was the death of her healthy little boy and she woke up with this sick child, well i always tell her she needs to go to counseling to learn how to cope with this but lately i`m more worried about my baby brother, he came home the other day from kindergarten and had a picture of a red headed boy with a knife, 3 people under the ground dead and another one on top of the ground covered in blood, he recently grabbed one of my 15 yr old brother`s pocket knives out and started swinging it at my older brother because they were fighting, and then he told my mother he wanted to be a serial killer when he grows up! he has said before that he wishes he would die, that he didn`t want to wake up the next morning,.....
