soon2be3 (706.8 days ago) I haven`t had one, but two of my co-workers just did. One had the laproscopic one and the other had a newer proceedure called DaVinci hysterectomy. She had some large fibroids removed. She recovered very quickly and thought it was an amazing proceedure. The two gals loooove it! They rub it in all the time. No regrets for them at all.
jessberr31 (707 days ago) I have a tumor like cyst on my remaining ovary, I already had the other one removed in `06 due to the same thing. Its called a dermoid cyst or cystic terratoma. Last surgery was hard, but I`m scared its going to be worse b/c I`m having everything taken out this time and I`m so worried about how my body will respond to my girly horomones and stuff being gone. My dr said I`ll be in the hosp for about 3 days. In a way its good but hard to find someone to keep the kids for that long. I don`t have any family to help so that sucks! I`m still in the planning process and recruiting help. No more periods will be soooooo nice! I just started AF yesterday so this will be my last one ever! Thanks ladies, nice to hear that its prob not as bad as I think it will be.
RobinG (707 days ago) My mom and one sister had the traditional hys where the cut is vertical and it was a longer recovery. Stay on top of meds and def rest. My other two sisters, cousin and aunt all had it done laproscopically (we have lots of cancer in our family :( that type is SO much easier!! DEF need help the first few days and DONT make them make you go home the first day!! One sis was and it was a night mare and many hospitals now try to get you home so dont go home til at least 24 hours. Important thing is to let your body heal even if you feel good your insides need to heal fully so you dont overdue it. If you do you risk injury and oong term pain. If you arent having a laproscopic one I would change that if you can. Depends on your medical reason for the hyserectomy.
leighsamarie (707.2 days ago) Yes my mom had one after 6 kids..And I remember her recovery wasn`t that bad also..Just like Adalynnsmommy said you just have to take it easy afterwards for a few weeks..It has been a few years since then and she has no problems emotionally or physically that I know of..Do not believe it messed up her sex drive either as I have heard that it does to some women..But Good Luck..and if you have anymore concerns just talk to your doctor I am sure he/she can answer your questions and ease your worry..
adalynnsmommy(PINK) (707.2 days ago) My aunt had one, the recovery wasn`t too bad. After a week or 2 she felt pretty good, and by 3-4 weeks practically 100% although she had to take it easy to prevent injuries for the 6 recommended weeks. On the emotional side she was a little upset (hearing cancer and no longer being a `woman`). But now she loves it! No periods, no birth control, life is good (she was 40 so there wasn`t any grief about future children). Good luck sweety!
charliebaby (707.3 days ago) I don`t know much about them but the few people I know who`ve had them have said the recovery is not too different to that of a c-section, being approximately 6 weeks recovery. Although it`s major surgery, it`s reasonably common. Good luck.
