Maddie n Christians Mommy (705.7 days ago) i would be, and have been upset about this same issue! my 2 1/2 yr old daughter had this dry bumpy-like rash that kept coming and going around her mouth, and also on her butt. I took it as dry skin, or a typical butt rash.. but when nothign would work that i was doing, and the fact it wouldnt go away... i took her into the doctors (where shes been going since she was born) more then once and they said NOTHING about it. i got no where! then, she goes to her fathers for her usual 10 day visit a month.. and he noticed it as well, so he took her to a dr. over where he lives.. and they said right away, in just one appt., that it was staph infection on her face and butt! so, he prescribed this cream stuff to put on it twice a day ..and within days it went away! havent seen it come back since! i was very angry with her Pedi. here, i understand if they miss it at the first appt., but not when nothings done after numerous appts! staph can be a really bad deal, no matter what type it is, so i feel a pedi. should know to look at something and test it and have possibilities at least, and narrow it down...espeically if nothing prior had been working to heal it!
military~mommy (706 days ago) OK, so I googled images, a yeast infection and a staph infection rash are nearly identical. HOWEVER after the first visit the doctor should have considered a different diagnosis, by the time you were on your 4th visit she was an idiot to not have considered that she could be wrong. Good on you for finding another doctor, the first sounds a bit dense to me!
numberj (706 days ago) Doctors may not be `Gods`, but they should be able to tell the difference from a `staph infection`, and a `yeast infection`. Come on they get paid well enough, that IS there job isn`t it?.
Thats why the other doctor knew what is was straight away, and was like OMG!!.
Amalthea (706.3 days ago) I would be really upset esepcailly after multiple visits..you would think she would have taken another look at it and made anohter diagnosis... but i am glad you figured out what was wrong and hopefully the meds will work..
Austin::and::Alexs::Momma (706.4 days ago) Since the rash was not improving and you made serveral trips to the doctor (over the same thing) with the same results each time - I`d be extremely upset! I could see her being wrong the 1st time or 2, but after 3 or 4 trips she should have known it was possibly something else, but thats just my opinion!
sooexcitedtobemommy (706.4 days ago) It`s hard to feel and find out someone who we put complete trust into was wrong, especially when they are wrong about something life threating (staph IS really serious). When I was 6 my mother brought me to the ER for bad stomach aches and after two hours of being there they immediately rushed me into surgery to remove my appendix.. they said it had already burst and I was dying. Come to find out I was not dying and it wasn`t my appendix ... it was another child with the same exact name as mine who was given pain relief and told to go home when they should have been in surgery. My mother tried for the longest time to find this family and find out what happened to their child, but never had luck. Doctors are expected to be right and not take a educated guess. So yes I`d be VERY angry to know my baby`s doctor diagnosed him wrong and if it was life threating, I`d be that doctors worst nightmare.
hannahe (706.4 days ago) could the staph infection have been caused by a yeast infection?? just curious cuz i have no idea. but to answer your question, yes i would be really mad but doctors are wrong a lot...although if you brought her in 3-4 times and the doc still wrote it off as a yeast infection even if it didnt go away with his treatment that is a little odd...you would think he would try another guess right?!
canadababy (706.4 days ago) Logically I would think like samanthadawn said...but if I were you and this happened to my DD I would be LIVID!! Similar thing happened to my friend, she took her son to the ER and the triage nurse didn`t think there was anything wrong with him, made him sit in the waiting room for 8hours...turns out he had the mumps which is VERY contagious and could have infected every kid in there. She was pretty mad but was happier her son was okay. Me, I would have done everything I could to make sure that nurse got in deep shit as the doctor knew immediately that the little boy had mumps, just like your new doctor new immediately there was some thing more seriously wrong with your DD. It`s one thing to make a `human` mistake, but to not be paying attention when you`re examing children is another :) You have every right to be freaking out mad right now!
aprilmcspadden (706.4 days ago) I agree with Samantha dawn, docs arnt Gods, there only human. It can be treated I know my little girl had the same thing, I had the asme thing go on when she was really really little she wouldnt eat and puked and cried NONSTOP for weeks her doc said colic I took her in to another doc and he said severe acid reflux.... was I mad?? I was frustrated sure but I didnt really have the right to be LIVID cause she was human too and it was my choice to switch docs, which I did. Be thankful it can be treated and shes ok, my little girl was in the hospital for a week and almost died. Also... just a word of advice, I wouldnt use the word retard on here, some people get complelty offeneded who have speciel needs child like myself. Take care hon and I hope your little one is okie dokie
samanthadawn (706.4 days ago) I would be a little mad, but you have to remember that doctors are only human, and everybody makes mistakes sometimes. Even when you are really good at what you do. I think every doctor has proboly made a mistake before, just be glad it wasn`t about something really searious.
