My son and daughter are 18 months apart and it has been perfect. It has never affected me having them both in nappies at once and i wouldnt do it any other way. By the time this one arrives my daughter will be 2 1/2 and she is toilet trained already so it wont be a problem at all. I personally wouldnt leave it any longer then the 2 1/2 years.

My older two are 4.5 yrs apart and I think it is perfect! I think 3 or more yrs apart is ideal. When one child is going into school when a newborn comes along it is SO much easier!!! My kids are very close!! My oldest is 14 and youngest 2 and they are SOO close :) I am very close to my sisters and we are 4 and 6 yrs aprt. Being close in age doesnt make or break a relationship ~ its all how you are raised, family bonds etc I know twins who are close and twins who hate each other ~

It`s such a personal situation, there`s pro`s & con`s for close together and further apart. Personally I wouldn`t entertain the thought of having another one before my son was out of nappies and could talk, but perhaps by then I`d prefer that stage and would be reluctant to go through pregnancy/newborn etc again...
