MorganBrittney (697.3 days ago) Lansinoh Double electric breast pump is a REMAKE of the Medela just cheaper. I bought it off ebay for 40 (normally 160) and loved it. Its doesnt let anything back up into the tubing just like madela and I used it 6 times a day for months. I highly highly reccomend it!
sgtoodles (705.3 days ago) If you are going to be pumping alot, I recommend a Medela. I used a medela for a year and I exclusively pumped. It was around $200 for a double one and I used it 6-8 times a day and never had any problems. I also used it at work when I had limited time, so having a double pump is good for that.
samanthadawn (705.5 days ago) I bought a 40$ one when i was breadst feeding, and it worked fine... i have never used a really expensive one and can`t understand why people pay so much for them. I guess I wasn`t constantly pumping, i only used it so i wouldn`t have to breastfeed in public. and so i could occasionaly get a baby sitter... but it did work good, only took me 20 minutes to pump a bottle full usually.
phooey (705.6 days ago) Whatever kind you decide to go with, just make sure it doesn`t beep at you with each pump like mine does. It`ll drive you insane!
annas-momma (705.7 days ago) I am so thankful for all the help you ladies have provided!! I do not work, but I have a daughter who will be 3 when the baby is born and I go to school online full time. I`d like to pump daily so I can build up a lot of storage in the freezer. I`m sure the baby will mostly be on the breast for feedings, especially during the night, but realistically I know that with school and chasing around a toddler that I am going to need to let my husband help when he can... and Anna, the big sister, really wants to be able to help give the baby bottles.
eurekagrls2002 (Andrea) (705.7 days ago) i was told by several lactation specialists hand pumps are not effeciant for consistant pumping...my dr wrote me a script for a medela freestyle pump and the insurance covered it 100% and i loved it! After attempting to bf my son almost 7 years ago and strictly pumping with my daughter it was so much easier and i had a better piece of mind! LOVED IT!
jaychay (705.7 days ago) my son would not latch on after 3 days so i had to express and feed him by bottle. i used the Medela Swing electric breast pump and it was very good
freedomlee (705.8 days ago) Please go with the Medela Freestyle...I love mine! If you`re a full time working mom this is the BEST and worth the money! If you work part time, the other Medela pumps are just as good. But if you only need to pumpa lil bit, a manul works too. Congrats!
jekajoy (705.8 days ago) I got mine medela off of craigslist too for $50 and just bought replacement parts!
MONKEYMAMMA (705.8 days ago) A couple years ago, a friend rented one from the pharmacy. maybe they still do that?
soon2be3 (705.8 days ago) I had a madela for all three babies. I loved it, but I also had to pump twice a day at work. Manual pumps were fine for every once in a while, but man...my hands would get tired. I could pump about 12 oz in 8-10 minutes with my electronic pump. So, I guess it depends on how often you will pump. I had a madela hand pump and it worked nicely...just a lot more work.
brandyv (705.8 days ago) I bought the playtex double embrace from walmart for $140. I like the fact that it`s a closed system so no breast milk ends up in the motor or tubing. The medela has good reviews, but it`s an open system which I personally wouldn`t feel comfortable with buying used since breast milk can carry Aids and other diseases. If I was to get a medela, I`d buy it new but I had a hard time with the cost. The playtex has a year warranty and I only plan to use it for a year, so it should work for me. I`ll be returning to work PT.
ArcticArlz (705.8 days ago) try finding one second hand
abbyquiet (705.8 days ago) i have the medela pump in style. it`s awesome. fast and efficient. i don`t know how you feel about buying that type of thing off craigslist, but i found mine there for $60. i don`t use it too often, but it`s been a lifesaver when i`ve needed it. if i had to buy one new i think i`d have gotten the medela swing breastpump for $150. i would never buy a manual pump, too much work. even though i`d only pump every once in a while. and my reasoning is that when i usually do need to pump, i`m in a hurry and starting to get stressed out, the last thing i need to add to that is pumping for 20 minutes when i don`t have that time to spend on it. i`d definitely stick to medela.
alugo (705.8 days ago) craiglist - then order replacement tubing. If you don`t have a large craigslist in your area - check other ones and ask ppl to ship it for you. Then just pay the extra for shipping. :)
mrandmrsh(Vanessa) (705.8 days ago) I`m going to try breastfeeding (this is our first baby) and we found a Playtex pump for $80 at Babies R Us...not sure how well it works but it`s worth a try :) Good luck!
