military~mommy (702.8 days ago) I use all cloth, no disposables at all. You do carry around dirty diapers when out and about, that is what wet bags are for! They are water proof and smell proof, I send one to daycare every day and when I pick my daughter up I take the bag of dirty diapers home to put in my big wet bag to wait for wash day. I only do one extra load a week, and I have not had a blow out poopy diaper since switching to cloth. If you want pm me your e-mail address and I will send you a guide to cloth diapering I wrote while bored, lol, it just has reviews on all the diapers I have tried (20+), what I liked/disliked, alot of common abreviations used and just info...
happydog (704.9 days ago) I would like to primarily use cloth this time around, but hubby is very against it, and even my mother (who cloth diapered all 4 of her own) gave me grief. Since I will be the one changing most of the diapers, I think I will give it a try anyway. Maybe when hubby sees the actual cost savings he`ll come around. (And cloth diapers have changed alot since my mom used them)
MommyOf3But4ToBe (704.9 days ago) I am using gDiapers... and will also be using cloth diapers as well... it will not add to much more into the laundry than i already have and it will save us money and be earth friendly...
shesxchaotic (705.2 days ago) I also only do one extra load a week using cloth. I was a disposable user (and a first time mommy) but made the switch when Jackson was 5 months so about a month ago. I wanted to do cloth originally but was hesitant because of living in an apartment and having shared laundry facilities. Plus so many people gave us diapers so we just decided that disposables would work for us. Anyways, once we ran out of diapers that we were given, we realized that we couldn`t stand spending around $60 a month on diapers and Huggies were the only ones that worked. And even those he would occasionally leak out of. So we started cloth diapers and not one single leak. And going out is simple. We just bring a ziploc baggie in the diaper bag.

jaysmomma (705.2 days ago) t3po-- Just wondering why you would have to scrap the poop off disposables???
T3POandR2D2 (705.2 days ago) Oh yeah, anyone who uses disposables - read the package, you should be scraping the poo off your soiled diapers, too!
ArcticArlz (705.2 days ago) oh and PS - cloth diapers are also easy to make, there are lots of info online and they`re really easy. I also posted pics on my profile of how to do it.
T3POandR2D2 (705.2 days ago) Love cloth! I do ONE extra load a week, not exactly a bunch of work. I used to use imse vimse flannel fitteds with super whisper wraps but now I just use pfs with the whisper wraps. As for when we`re out - you put the diaper in a wetbag or a ziploc and throw it in your pail when you get home. It`s not that hard!
ArcticArlz (705.2 days ago) I would recommend using cloth, but keeping a pack of disposables on hand for when you are out and about. Plus if you accidentally run out of clean diapers, at least you`ll be able to throw on a disposable till you get laundry done.
13yearsapart (705.3 days ago) I work and so does the hubby and we don`t have the time for the extra laundering, so cloth was OUT for us. I wasn`t a big fan of them in the first place, but we tried it for a few weeks and I can honestly say, I do NOT have the stomach for it. Poo diapers are bad enough, but when you have to rinse them in the toilet and then wash them...it was too yucky for me! Good luck deciding!!
danilynn (705.3 days ago) So ladies who use cloth- when you`re out and about, and your little one poops, don`t you just have to carry that smelly poopy diaper around with you until you get home to wash it?
Amalthea (705.3 days ago) i use cloth,,, i use bum genius...bought then online at Diapers.com..great deals..fast shippng too
charliebaby (705.3 days ago) I do cloth and I`m so glad I made the switch. I used disposables for the first 4 months and my increase in washing was dramatic, before switching to cloth. Having a baby makes heaps more washing, so many wardrobe malfuctions, bibs, blankets, sheets etc. I found when I switched to cloth, my washing increased by a further load every second day so not all that much more than I was already doing. Do your research though, not all nappies are the same, the initial outlay can be expensive if you go down the MCN route such as Bumgenius, but for every week you`re not buying disposables, you`re getting your money back on each nappy you invest in. Already I`ve made my money back and I have at least another year ahead of me where I won`t be buying disposables. ALso, just remember, disposables take approximately 500 years to break down! GROSS!!!
rosye13 (705.3 days ago) Cloth can definitely be cheaper. But I was lucky, and the cheap off brand diapers work fine for my girls. Although cloth would still be slightly cheaper than the cheapest disposables, the savings wasn`t worth all of the extra work for me. Especially because both my husband and I work full time and have 2 babies under 2. Anyway, if you have the time to do all of that extra cleaning, it could be a good option. Especially if the alternative is using huggies or pampers which are much more expensive than the Walmart off brand that I`m using.
