EllaG (703.6 days ago) my LO was the same - at three weeks, we moved her up to the next stage formula, as she was taking 6 oz. The health nurse said that as she was a larger baby (9lb 8oz at birth) she would need more food than say a 7lb baby. She`s always taken more OZ per feed than `recommended`, but goes for longer between feeds than `recommended`
Stay@homezookeepa (703.8 days ago) My daughter drank 6 oz from 4 days old. She would go longer before feeding again and got the same amount of `required/suggested` ounces by doctor. She will stop when she is full. Of coure what they are saying is true though, babies natural reflex is sucking. BUT my daughter also slept through the night at 4 days on...forever! She is now four and not overweight or anything so see how much baby would eat! Just make sure you burp enough so you don`t get some spit too!
mommastacy (703.8 days ago) I agree...4 or 5 oz is plenty for her little belly. Is she spitting up at all? I am also wondering how often you are feeding her? I would assume it would be around the 3 or 4 hour mark. If you wait longer that could be why she is hungry.
domsmom2009 (704.2 days ago) you can use your finger instead of a soother (clean finger lol)
canadababy (704.2 days ago) Are you just putting the soother straight in her mouth? The OB nurse showed me a trick to point the soother`s nipple up to the roof of their mouth when you`re putting it in...my DD didn`t take the soother the first try either, it wasn`t until the nurse did this. And it was only the first few times, don`t have to do that forever.
JustTha5ofUs (704.2 days ago) i think its natural for them to keep sucking, im pretty sure the babys full with that many ounces. mine did the same, and i would just stop after 4 because he was drinking often enough. its probably just a habit, i would take it out, burp her on my shoulder, and leave it @ that. dont wanna tunny ache on your hands
