domsmom2009 (702.4 days ago) when the umbilical cord fell off... he was about 2 weeks old. he did not like it at all and I did not push him at all. he eventually started turning over on his own and he started being ok with it :)
RobinG (702.4 days ago) My hunter has autism and we needed to do tummy time to help with motor skills and core strength ~ we learned from his therapists that `official tummy time` is any position in which the baby in on its tummy and attempting to lift his/ her head. So that includes when the baby is lying on your tummy and lifting their head :) Like when you are sitting reclined back some. So tummy time is essentially done from birth, it isnt limited to flat on the floor as some think it is ~
amber325 (702.5 days ago) When LO was a newborn I had her lay on my belly for tummy time...I would say 1-2 months before actually doing full on tummy time.
luvin colton (702.5 days ago) i started with my baby he was born at 6 lbs but had a strong neck, he still hates it and learned to roll from belly to back at 6 weeks because of dreading it so much, i just learned from my aunt who is taking her continued education as a teacher, that they are reforming the start at 2 months because it is straining to babies necks they now dont want moms starting until they can easily roll between 4-6 months to spare their necks, i had no idea and feel terrible!
juels101 (702.5 days ago) My kids have always been very sterdy when they were born, and so I was able to start it right away, to get them used to it. I started off with only a few minutes, then they were used to it and I played with them like that for longer periods of time, and eventually as long as they were happy that way.
BostonMom (702.6 days ago) I`ve always heard the sooner the better. I plan on starting as soon as I get home from the hospital - supervised, of course! :-)
rosye13 (702.6 days ago) I say the earlier the better. Just to get them used to laying on their tummy. Because if you wait until they`re 2 months old to start, they might hate being on their tummy and just scream the whole time. Of course, with a baby as young as yours`, make sure that it`s supervised tummy time :) (I`m sure you know not to leave her alone while on her tummy, but I`d rather be safe than sorry :P)
