BabyBsmomma (Joni)`s poll Show results | Hide results

Pregnancy-poll poll :.My new concerns for my Colonized Group B- details inside, any advice greatly appreciated!.:
(Pregnancy poll by BabyBsmomma (Joni), 702 days ago)
Yes- if it is found in your urine you are supposed to start treatment
No- you do not need treatment any earlier than labor
Antibiotics should be given HOURS before expected delivery
Just 1/2 hour to hour of antibiotics are enough to be affective

well i did call and told the nurse my concerns. She said i had not been given antibiotics right away because i don`t have the actual infection- it had just shown a `presence` in my first urine culture- but all my other one`s after that have been clear, she said they are still going to treat me during labor, and the Dr. that she talked to said they could go ahead and call in a prescription to calm my fears so i will take that for a week, and whatever had had a presence would be taken care of, but that they will still treat me at delivery no matter what. I asked all my questions and stated all my concerns and i feel 100% better. Thanks all who commented:)

i had this with my first pregnacy it was found at 24 weeks after a swab. my waters broke at home at 7am i went into hospital and i got a pessary nothing worked. so i was taken to the labour ward at 8pm and started a drip then. my son was born at 6.31am and i had to stay in 2 nights for him to be monitored. he was fine. i have it this time around again it was found at 13 weeks after a swab. i am unsure about what happens when its found in urine

I tested positive with this only with my youngest son, i was given antibiotics right away. I never did have any other meds after that since after the meds i tested negative for it so maybe that is why. My son is now 2 and had no problems at all what so ever... hope this helps..

And then i also read you are not supposed to be induced if you are GBS+. My Dr. has said if i have a `favorable` cervix she would induce me at 39 weeks! Is she forgetting i have it or am i reading way to much into this?! Sorry, i am having a very emotional day:(

I have GBS as well, my doc told me that if my water breaks then they need to start treating me right away, but other than that they don`t really seem all too worried about it.

So at my 2nd appt. i was told i`m positive for Colonized Group B that was found in my urine. I put a poll and question on here about it and my Dr`s and everyone else i have talked to said it is really no big deal as long as you get the antibiotics during labor. Well i started to Google it again today and was reading that if it is found in your urine you are supposed to start treatment right away! And i also read that you need the antibiotics at least 4 hours during labor before delivery for it to be affective?! WTF? I don`t want to call the Dr. and say `this is what i read online` (i`m sure they HATE that) but why am what i`m reading and being told so completely different?! Looking for any comforting advice right now as i am starting to freak out! THANKS!

  1. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  2. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  3. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  4. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  5. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  6. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  7. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
  8. MODS ~ please help me in monitoring the photo pages and other pages. Horrific porn was posted in photos sections and they need to be deleted as soon as they are seen. I reported it to Laura also. TX!!
  9. my 4 yr old has 3 planter warts on his foot,.. any home remedies gals or is this a dr visit?
  10. ok ladies, sry its long but i really need some advice, a year ago my 5 yr old brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, over the last year my mom has had a hard time dealing with his diagnosis because there is no cure and all she can do is give him 5 insulin shots a day to keep him alive, she looks at it like march 13th 2011 was the death of her healthy little boy and she woke up with this sick child, well i always tell her she needs to go to counseling to learn how to cope with this but lately i`m more worried about my baby brother, he came home the other day from kindergarten and had a picture of a red headed boy with a knife, 3 people under the ground dead and another one on top of the ground covered in blood, he recently grabbed one of my 15 yr old brother`s pocket knives out and started swinging it at my older brother because they were fighting, and then he told my mother he wanted to be a serial killer when he grows up! he has said before that he wishes he would die, that he didn`t want to wake up the next morning,.....
