Bek 30 (700.4 days ago) My childcare caters for the children, and if a child is allergic they do not ever cook anything that contains those allergies, it is not bought into the daycare. If you need to take food in for some reason, you have to ring ahead and check, and if it contains those ingredients, then again no your not allowed to bring it in. My daughter knocked her front tooth out and had to have soft, cold foods for 24hrs, I rang and asked if I could bring frozen yoghurt in, and they told me no, I pay my fees every week, which includes meals and snacks, and they went to the shop and bought her all the foods she could eat including her frozen yoghurt:) Even at my son`s school, it is the same rules, they have made it a nut free school....but for kids that are allergic to braed or eggs or other foods that is hard to control, then those children eat in the office away from the other children. KR (700.5 days ago) My child care provider has the children bring their own lunch. Healthy snacks are provided. My kids eat dinner at the daycare too because im a single mom working so hard. Luckily they dont have allergies. EditDelete
BabyBsmomma (Joni) (700.5 days ago) When i worked at a daycare (it was a smaller one) they had a list in the kitchen with the childs name/age and allergy. Depending what the allergy was the cook would just have to adjust the childs meal accordingly. I watch a little girl in my home now who is very allergic to egg. Her mother packs her lunch and brings it here just for the `what if` factor, she has always said if anything were to happen she rather it be on her than me. She still eats some snacks here with my daughter i just always read the ingredients and make sure my daughter or myself is never eating anything with egg that could fall and she would pick up and eat it.
