Hi with my 2 dauughter I was dilated to a 4 for a almost a month when my water broke. I did not go into labor on my own. it broke at 2 in the afternoon i waited until 9 at night to go to the doctor (my doctor and friend daughter`s had a dance program that night)I had not had one contraction. They ended up giving me 4 an 1/2 bags of pitocin. I had her 12 hr later

my water broke i was not dilated at all (it only broke because my son kicked a hole in the placenta at 38 weeks exact) i went into labor within 15 minutes, super hard contractions 1-2 minutes apart 18 hours later, he was here!

I was only 1-2 cm dilated when mine broke (on the due date) but my body still did not progress on it`s own so hours later i was given pitocin.

I was 4cm each time my waters broke. I was induced both time

I was 4-5 cm dilated that morning at my dr appointment with no contractions, my water then broke that evening and the pain went from 0-9 in about a half hour!

With my first my water broke and I wasn`t dialated or having contractions-the hospital gave me pitocin to get it going because they don`t let you just hang out with broken water. With my second my water broke 8 1/2 hours into labor, fully dialated, 10 minutes before he was born-I guess he just had the sac of steel :-)
