mommyofxyxyxx (885.7 days ago) Because of the umbilical cord, it`s difficult to keep them in outfits but bring one or two for pictures. Otherwise, you`ll probably keep them swaddled in the onsies they give you anyway. Bring a really cute hat or two. You don`t need any of your own powder or diapers or anything like tha becuase the hospital provides those. Maybe an optional binky. My kids all liked different ones.
Bare essentials:
DEPENDS undergarments. Seriously. BRING THEM. 5-6 pair. You will not regret this!!! PJ`s and a robe. SOCKS, makeup, toiletries for showering, brush, hair ties. your cell phone. Your own pillow. (Don`t bring the boppy pillow, even if your nursing, its sort of a waste of space), light reading and FOOD. Seriously, bring some snacks or food!!! Oh yes,...baby receiving blankets
everything else you probably won`t use. good luck!!!!
RNMom2010 (885.7 days ago) I packed SO MUCH that I never used!!! The things I packed that I loved to have were my own pillow and a soft blanket. I brought numerous jammie pants/shorts to wear since you never know how much you will bleed through at first. Toothbrush, shampoo/conditioner and body wash. Makeup was a huge waste of space and I could have cared less. Just think that less is more, and if you question whether you will use it or not, keep it out of the bag!!
bundleofperez (885.7 days ago) My hospital pretty much provides everything and the first time around I overpacked. I guess it also depends on the time of year you are giving birth. I`ll be giving birth in the summer again. I will pack one outfit for the baby to go home in. I had a infant hat with my sons name embroidered on it to keep in the nursery rather that the one the hospital provides you with. For some reason I wanted to easily identify him..lol. I guess that was a new mother thing..I`ll pack my camera and laptop to keep me entertained. Make up, around 3 or 4 pairs of black underwear, pajamas, those slipper socks with the rubber on the bottom, and toiletries.
chelsealee (886.1 days ago) do not forget a razor! I did. :(
ladykilla421 (886.2 days ago) I brought a bunch of socks...far too many. I had some compulsion to pack like 5 pairs of socks!
res (886.4 days ago) It`s such an exciting time. Best wishes.
Peytonsmummy (886.4 days ago) Thanks ladies, you have been so helpful, looks like I know what I will be doing Monday since I won`t have the time tomorrow.
armymom (886.5 days ago) I didn`t pack much.. I just sent my husband home if I needed something. lol. we live like 5 minutes away. I`d bring an extra bag from all the gifts and extra diapers/formula that the hospital usually gives out before you leave.
res (886.5 days ago) Usually the hospital gives you the onesies to use while there, but check with your particular hospital.
Peytonsmummy (886.5 days ago) Thanks so should I just bring some onesies instead of outfits?
BabySchofield (886.5 days ago) I definately over packed the first time around, maybe even the second time, but not by much...I would say bring a camera, toiletries, makeup, boppy pillow, nursing bra (if your going to nurse) going home clothes, pajamas, socks, underwear, maybe like 3 baby outfits, pads (even though the hospital provides them you might want your own, wayyy more comfortable) and the baby`s carseat and blankets
res (886.5 days ago) I packed a bunch of newborn outfits I didn`t need. I kept the baby in hospital wear ( onesies) and swaddled most of the time. Basically, all I needed both times was shampoo, toothbrush and hair brush, one outfit for the baby, two outfits for me , a cell phone, and a carrier for the baby with blankets or a bundle me
