Crib Tent :) The longer the better in a crib :) They work great!

My daughter is 21 months and was a giant co sleeper, i don`t think we ever got to use our crib. So since we weren`t using it we got a day bed with a full twin size mattress and a guard rail on the bed. That was the first time she was ok with sleeping alone!! she loved it! I guess she just wanted the option to get out if she needed me. Now i find myself sneaking in and sleeping near her cause i miss her lol!

Every child is different, even if they are the same decent. Go with the flow...nothing needs to be dine immediately unless you think he`ll get hurt doing it. Kids do this, eventually. Sad but true. Mine were all different, but aren`t most kids? One didn`t like a crib and had a double since one year old with a side...the next crawled out around 2 and switched to a todder bed with a rail. He`s a little trouble. My other two are in cibs...as long s they stay we are good?mtgs best advice I was given to me by my cousin, a pedi, was to try dor known stoppers, and monitors....if they can grt out reverse the knob and lock wnen night come...not on them but after then fact, to unsure safety.

a crib tent, or switch him over to his big boy bed, if you dont have one yet just move the crib out of the room and move his mattress to the floor so if he falls its not far enough to get hurt. have fun ! lol

Dont waste money on a toddler bed. Get a twin matress put it on the floor. My 2.5 yr old has been in a twin since right before he turned 2 he was only in his toddler bed for like 4 months. He has yet to fall out of bed.

DD went to a twin bed with bed-rails three months after turning 2. i didn`t want to buy a bed that would only be useful for a couple of years...so she is in the bed she will be in until flying the coop.

I vote to get a twin bed asap but in the meanwhile, I think putting his matress on the floor is a good idea! We transitioned our son from his crib to a twin bed at 22 months. His bed is against the wall and we put a bedrail on the other side. He was so excited to get a big boy bed! For a week or so he wanted to get out of his bed at bedtime but beside that we never had any problem. I like twin beds better than toddler beds because we can hop on it with him to read a story or to cuddle. They are more expensive but your kid can use it until he leaves home one day! :)

For an immediate answer I voted just put the mattress on the floor, take your time figuring out what kind of bed you want and then shopping for it. Our DD has a toddler bed and I`m sure it`ll fit her for awhile and when she does grow out of it her little sister will be able to use it, so I don`t think it`s a waste. And it`s not like they`re expensive, you can get them on sale for about $50 and you don't have to buy a new mattress :)

  1. Silly poll, just checking the odds.. for parents of 3+kids, did you have:
  2. Career conundrum... Opinions valued (particularly from teachers - but I would value advice from anyone). Details inside.
  3. At what age do you think it`s appropriate to drop your child off at a sporting training (not a school sport, a sports club such as soccer, footy, tennis, netball club etc), and come at the end to pick them up?
  4. If you saw a car up your next-door neighbour`s drive (evening), would you make a social visit (and didn`t know them very well)?

  5. So this is what the Tooth Fairy would be like if the roles were reversed haha!
  6. Bookworms - is anyone reading the new Khaled Hosseini book `And the Mountains Echoed`? I pre-ordered it on kindle which should have arrived today (I haven`t checked yet) but was wondering if anyone would be interested in a group read?
  7. HELP - my 3 year old daughter is developing a phobia to fluff! I feel responsible, I have a ridiculous phobia of bees and wasps - to the point it hinders my ability to enjoy playing out in the garden during the summer, it`s detrimental. My kids have picked up on this and are sh*t scared of bees and wasps, but with my daughter it was soon spiders, then ants and now, tiny black bits of fluff - which she finds all over; on her pillow etc. It`s genuine terror in her face as she screams she can see them moving and they`re `going to get her` or `bite her`. What do I do? She`s old enough to be reasoned with that they don`t move and we pick most of them off before bedtime, but she wakes in the night and starts crying that `The Fluff`s coming...!!` How can I help her? Do you think this is just a phase or do you think it`s worth seeking some sort of external, professional help to nip this in the bud? I HATE the thought of passing on my phobias and anxieties to my children - it`s no way to live to be a constant worrier about things beyond your control and I;ve suffered with anxiety and panick attacks for nearing 6 years now and can`t ever remember just feeling `normal` and `well` - I can`t remember my life before my first panick attack. This is NOT what I want for my children...
  8. On Facebook I saw one of those like pictures, a mom who sent her child to school for days wearing out of style `ugly` clothes because she was bullying another girl about her clothes. Mom`s yourselves, what do you think of this type of punishment?
  9. Can anyone relate? My 4 year old is making all sorts of amazing connections which is great that he`s thinking about the world, but some of his thoughts are quite deep. He`s a natural born worrier (gets that from me!) and I try to protect him from as much as I can but there`s things that can`t be avoided. Ie, ever since Easter, he`s been plagued with fear about getting holes in him like Jesus (he learnt it at Kindy). Well just this evening he came out with `Why do you and Margo (Grandma) have holes in your ears like Jesus? Did you get your ears nailed to a cross?` He`s also obsessed with the fear of death.
