At this point of your pregnancy, the crown-to-rump length of your developing baby is 1.25 to 1.68 inches. It is now easier to tell how much the baby weighs since he is beginning to put on some weight. Your baby weighs approximately 5 grams and is the size of a small plum! The baby has grown an incredible amount during these past few weeks, but you still are not showing too much yet.
This week is somewhat of a landmark for your developing baby. By now, your babys complete body plan is laid down. Your baby will continue to develop and grow for the remainder of the pregnancy. The fingers and toes have separated and the tail has disappeared now. Your baby has taste and tooth buds at this point, which will continue to develop. The brain will continue to grow at an amazing rate and nearly a quarter of a million new neurons are produced every minute! The embryonic heart is completely developed. External genitalia are not apparent until next week, but the testes in baby boys will already be producing testosterone.
Because you have high hormone levels at this time, you may notice an abundance of emotional and physical effects. Most pregnant women find themselves getting distressed easily and have frequent mood swings. Common physical changes include the beginning of real weight gain, potential softening of the gums and slightly swollen thyroid glands. Common emotional changes include feelings of unattractiveness, feelings of inadequacy and concerns about what the future holds. Some women are not excited about their pregnancy at first and question the condition. Moodswings are not uncommon and many pregnancy women tend to get upset easily, cry at the slightest things, feel moody or drift on daydreams.
You may have gained a little weight already. Average weight gain during pregnancy is about 28lbs(13kgs), but most of that is gained in the second and third trimester.

Baby3 I too don't feel pregnant at all I'm carrying twins and i am smaller than I was when I was pregnant with my first. Which surprises me a lot aside from morning sickness I don't feel pregnant what so ever unless I lay on my side it is uncomfortable some. But I know that will soon come to an end and the real uncomfortableness will set in just really wish this morning sickness would go away.

FeeG - im same as you im huge much like i was at 18 weeks with my second lol its weird but goo because i def look pregnant and i like that instead of people thinking im just a bit chubby in the tummy lol vain i know
baby3andme - 3 days ago
FeeG- It seems like sometimes I'm showing. Like at the end of the day and if I've eaten. But it always varies. Like ATM, I don't think my stomach looks pregnant at all. Along with that, does anyone else not feel pregnant anymore? I don't at all. I'm still exhausted, but I also haven't been sleeping much at night. Other than that, I was horribly sick and now nothing. No 'full' feeling in uterus or anything. For days. I'm not freaking out, but I am wondering...
FeeGbaby - 4 days ago
Well I haven't been on in a while! 10 weeks already! Its going by so fast but oh so slow still! I already look like I did with my first pregnancy at like 18 weeks! I'm huge already it seems like! Anyone else showing already?

Just had my appointment today. Doctor tried to hear heart beat with doppler but couldn't. He said it was too early and showed us the baby and hb with ultrasound. He said that the hb is around 180 and the baby looks great.. I wonder what I have been hearing to all these days with my home doppler..

salimrenee - 17 days ago
Had our first scan yesterday. Single baby, movin around, HB of 176. Breathed a sigh of relief...and then the doc said we have to go for the NT scan. Trying not to stress, as I'm sure everything will be fine, but easier said than done. Stupid 'advanced maternal age'.

Finally heard the heartbeat on my Doppler yesterday. It was really far down just at my pubic bone. I can't tell you how reassuring it is. I'd been trying to find it everyday for the last week with no luck. Hope everyone's hanging in there. This first trimester will be over soon!

Tara- I just had a scare like this about a week ago now, I scared the crap out of me, I will not lie. BUT everything looks ok with the baby, they were never able to tell what caused the bleed. If you aren't having any more spotting I would think everything is ok, you could call up your dr. and just ask to have a office visit to see if they can find the baby or give you a mini ultrasound (that is what they did with me). Wishing you luck!. Army- thanks, I just took my last dose of the meds tonight, but I still am having pretty bad issues, I think they will most likely have to give me a shot also..So I am still worried about all the meds I am having to take. It just dosen't seem to want to go away this time. Wonder if it is because I am pregnant. I didn't start getting any asthma symptoms till about a year ago, so its all pretty new to me. Sorry you have it so bad also, its not nice at all. Anyways, my MS has been getting better some days, I only have to take a pill once and a while to help with it now, not every day anymore. Still sooo tired though, feel like I can't get any anything done lately.. So glad for my husband right now, he is being awesome. Picking up my slack, yes the house isn't as clean as I usually have it, but he is keeping most of it picked up for me! I am supprised, he never did anything like this with the other 4....lol. Well hope everyone has a good week!

10w today. Just finished two days of training classes for work. Each 13 hours. I work tomorrow and Thursday 12 hours each day. I need Friday to get here so I can sleep : /
armywife63 - 19 days ago
Zem6 - Sorry to hear about your asthma. I've got asthma, as well, but I haven't had much trouble with it lately. It flares up mostly in the winter and the trigger is change in weather and temperature. I actually had to move from up north to Florida when I was a child because it was so bad. With my last pregnancy, I had to use my inhaler quite a bit and my son was fine. Never had to use the steroids, though, while pregnant. I'll be thinking about you and hoping that your breathing improves asap.

@3demis...Thanks so much! That definitely helped!! :)
3demis - 19 days ago
Tara- your baby is probably perfectly fine. I had light bleeding like you described with my first two pregnancies and my babies came out healthy. If it had continued or if it happens again, I would say go to your doctor but lots of women have spotting while pregnant. Just take it easy and try not to stress :)
TaraR - 20 days ago
Hey ladies!! I'm needing some reassurance or just someone to make me feel good. :) This never happened to me in my other pregnancies. Friday, I was 10 weeks and 1 day...I went to use the restroom and noticed blood in my underwear...I freaked out! It wasn't red, more of a pinkish orangish color. When I wiped it was pink. I called my doctor and they said to take it easy this weekend which I did. Friday evening into Saturday it was only when I wiped. Nothing ever came on my underwear since that 1st time. Saturday it was brown. Sunday and today there hasn't been anything. Please tell me there is a chance the baby is ok?? Sorry for such a long post.
dramaqtpye - 21 days ago
I went to the doctor today because I have a cold and was told to use mucinex and robutussin (Can only use normal type without any letters). Regarding asthma, I was told to use nebulizer and/or inhaler.
I asked for an ultrasound and at 10 weeks 3 days, baby's heart rate is 178 bpm. I also got to see 4D pictures. Baby was incredibly active, moving it's arms, legs and jumping around.

Hey ladies! My name is Coeby and im due Nov 27th with my 3rd baby (have almost 5 yr old girl, and 2.5 yr old boy), feeling very nauseas, and have such a bad taste in my mouth (however I did expect this, was the same for my other 2). I also had a miscarriage in between my 2 healthy children at 14 weeks, so im praying this one comes out healthy as well. I hope to have my journey right along with u all, best wishes for healthy babies everyone!!
zem6 - 22 days ago
No I have not, but i don't think they would be able to help in this situation anyways. I amm not trying to control or prevent the asthma. I am having a sever attack that usually last almost a month. last time I had this I ended up in the ER, it even put my BP up to 145/121...I have low BP usually... We don't know the cause of it and can't figure out why I am having these bad asthma flare ups. It is only the second time this has happened. Last time they gave me shots that were supposed to hold it off for at least 3 months, well its been about a month and a half.... I know that i may be able to get natural meds, but I have never been one to do any of that. I just don't want to prolong this anymore. They almost made me stay in the Hospital because my O2 stats were lower than they like 82. I told them no...Just seems like I am having one big problem after the next with this pregnancy...I never had anything like this with my other pregnancies, not till later on did I have any issues with them...
zem6 - 22 days ago
I am taking Albuterol and Prednisone. I will take them, because I just can't breath at all. So I know I need to. It just scares me because they could hurt the baby. I am soo worried about the Prednisone, it is a class C only because it has not be tested in pregnancy at all!! So it could be find, but it could also be VERY bad....So worried about this...
Dragonsoccermom*teamBLUE* - 22 days ago
Zem- I don't know enough about drug classes but you need to breathe & you have to trust your dr. maybe talk to a homeopathic dr to see what natural things you can do. I do know that chugging hot black coffee can naturally open your airways in an emergency. What meds are you on?
zem6 - 22 days ago
I asked this in the questions, but thought I would ask here also.
So I have been having big problems with my asthma, I am having a huge flare up. I have no choice but to take meds for it. I just got back from the dr. and after talking to another dr. they decided that I would have no choice but to take 2 different drugs. You have to breath, if you can`t breath well, you baby isn`t either. Well these both of these drugs are considered a class C drug. I know i have to take them, but I am just so worried that something will be wrong with my baby because of it. Has anyone had to take a class C drug and their baby be ok? The dr. told me that if I were his wife, he would start her out on what he is giving me....I just feel like crying, please help all. Thanks.
zem6 - 22 days ago
In 10 weeks now, its crazy. i never thought I would be doing this again, yet here I am..lol. We have always used pampers when they are newborn and huggies after they are a few months. I have tryed store brands, but all my kids have had bad reactions to them. I can't even switch to a different name brand....
salimrenee - 23 days ago
It's been years but I used to use Walmart's White Cloud diapers and I saw that they brought them back. Way cheaper than Huggies but basically the same diaper. I'm hoping to cloth diaper this time, just have to convince DH.
salimrenee - 23 days ago
10 weeks today. First u/s is Tuesday afternoon. I'm so nervous. I've heard this bean's HB a bunch already but I still worry. I can't always find it. I swear I'm backwards too, because it seems having a full bladder actually inhibits finding the little one. I'll probably try again after work. 4 more days!
gigous3 - 23 days ago
@armywife, I do use store brand diapers. My son had sensitive skin as a baby so I couldn't use them on him, but my daughter uses them now. I buy Comforts by Kroger. They are great and so much cheaper than brand name diapers. I was even able to use the Comforts formula for her which saved my about $10 a can. My son could not take off brands. It all varies on the babies I think.
armywife63 - 23 days ago
I hate to jump the gun, but has anybody ever tried any store brand diapers? With my first baby we only used Pampers, but I've heard that some people like Target brand diapers. Just curious if anyone has any recommendations. I'd like to start buying diapers slowly over the course of the pregnancy. : )
