Your baby continues to grow and is now approximately the size of a large lime! The crown-to-rump length of your developing child is 1.75 to 2.4 inches. The weight of the fetus is approximately 8 grams at this point. The growth of your baby is phenomenal now and your babys length will double in the next three weeks. The head is grossly out of proportion and is almost half of the babys length.
You are almost at the end of your first trimester and while changes continue to occur quickly in your baby, they are happening at a slower rate in you. Your uterus has been growing with the fetus inside of it and is now almost big enough to fill your pelvis. Your uterus may be able to be felt in your lower abdomen, above the middle of your pubic bone. You are not able to feel the baby moving inside of you at this time. Some women think that they have felt fetal movements now, but it is either gas or a wrongly dated pregnancy. You might also be noticing changes in your hair, fingernails, or skin around this time. Some women notice an increase in hair growth and nail growth during pregnancy and others lose small amounts of hair. You are burning up calories at a faster rate than you did before you became pregnant! The amount of blood being pumped around your body will increase and you might feel warmer than usual.
This is the last week of the embryonic period. From now on, your baby will be called a fetus. As development continues, the fingernails appear this week. External genitalia are beginning to show distinguishing features and the development of male or female will be complete in three weeks. The placentas blood vessels increase to provide your baby with the nutrients and oxygen he needs for continued growth. The ears are gradually moving from the neck towards the sides of his head. Inside of the developing abdomen, the intestines are developing. Because the intestines are so large, some of them project into the umbilical cord and they will return to the abdomen within the next week or two.
At the size of a plum, your baby is now able to swallow. The urinary system functions. The baby swallows and urinates the amniotic fluid and the fluid is continually replaced. The baby is kicking but the mother cannot feel it yet. All vital organs are formed and, for the most part, function normally. From now on, they will grow in size and efficiency.
As a preparation for breastfeeding, your baby now has learned to swallow. Babies swallow amniotic fluid in the uterus.

I think it just depends on the doctor my baby measured 2 days early & he changed my due date...it really doesn't matter to me though bc I go into labor a week or 2 early anyways...so due date is just an estimate.
brookebaby3 - 3 days ago
Usually doctors won't change due days unless your baby is measuring a week or more smaller or bigger. My baby is measuring 4 days behind but I still have the same due date. I just changed it here because I think ill deliver late.

My Dr didn't change the due date offically because my little booger is only 4 days over. But it could be btwn Dec 3rd or the 7th...

Is anyone else looking to transition from working full time to being a stay at home mom? I am and scared to death how the finances are going to work out. I am looking to do home daycare. Just wondering if anyone else is sharing my fears about the future.

To join in on the conversation about how to tell people. We had a cake with a baby lying underneath a blanket sent to my parents that said Congrats, you both are having another grand baby! They were speechless and had to show the extended family the cake before eating it. I am so glad to be in week 11! I was sick all last week with MS and vomiting. I missed four days of work! I am praying the MS will be gone soon. I started drinking Gatorade and taking pre natals that have a 50 mg dose of b6 in it, along with zofran. I also still take Zantac as needed. I had an ultrasound yesterday. My baby has grown so much and was sucking its little thumb. It was so sweet. I have my next one in four weeks. I decided not to do the NT testing since we decided we would still have the baby no matter what.

TaraR I'm so sorry to hear! Prayers go put to you and your family.

Our parents and in-laws know. Waiting for my u/s appointment on 28th to announce it to close friends. Will inform my boss at the same time. Although my in-laws started announcing to everyone. With my last pregnancy being a mc, past couple of weeks have been so scary. Desperately waiting for doctor's reassurance at our next appointment.

Our close friends and family know, but I haven't made it super public yet. I have an ultrasound on the 28th, so after that I am going to tell everyone
Emily1988 - 7 days ago
I found out I was pregnant at 3w3d. We announced as soon as we told my husband's daughter. That was at 4w4d.
3demis - 8 days ago
Is anyone making the big announcement in the next couple of weeks? If so, how?
BCgarbaby - 8 days ago
Tara, I hope you are doing ok. I am sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully you can have some time to yourself and process everything. Stay strong and I wish you all the best.

Hi ladies. I wanted all of you to know that I lost the baby early Monday morning. I was 11 weeks 4 days. I'm sad that I can't continue on this journey with all of you! I wish all of you the best.
Emily1988 - 9 days ago
I know! But i'm kinda glad it's going slow as this will be my last pregnancy!
I turned 11 weeks yesterday and heard my baby's heartbeat on my home dipper last night! So reassuring!

Only week 11? Seems like more. Boy time sure is going slow right now. Counting the days until this trimester is over. Hope everyone is hanging in there. It's too quiet!

Well I have my dr. visit tomorrow. Excited! lol Just want to be sure everything is looking ok in there. Had a pretty good weekend, went to visit some freinds a few hours away. We went out to eat and also went to see the new iron man. It was awesome lol. What did everyone do for mothers day?
sophie-hannah - 13 days ago
My oh found the heartbeat with the doppler today :) beating soo fast! I tried for ages and couldn't find it lol x

Best wishes for you tara! So hard to deal with.

My doc gave me Mag-Ox for headache prevention and Fioricet for when they get bad. Magnesium is something we need anyway, and migraine/chronic headache sufferers have been shown to be deficient. I hate to take the Fioriset so I try everything else first, it's a last resort, but boy does it work well! I took it quite frequently for chronic headaches with DD#1 11 years ago and she turned out perfectly fine. You don't have to suffer ladies. Talk to your doctors.
sophie-hannah - 14 days ago
The headaches are reallly annoying bring on the 2nd tri! Lol.

Hello Week 11!! The bleeding is back...only when I wipe though. I'm not having any cramps and it's not red. My appointment has been moved to Monday. I go for an ultrasound that morning and then I go to see my doctor in the afternoon. I'm praying everything is ok!! Hope everyone is doing well!! :)

Wow 11 weeks, so crazy. My head has been killing me the past few days, so ready to get into the second tri. Hopefully all this early stuff goes away and dosen't try and stick around with me!! I also can't get enough ice cream....Mmmm.

I made it through my son's mother's day program at school, up until the time they brought out lunch. I couldn't handle the smell of meats cooking in crockpots and had to bolt out the side door. Thankfully, my son didn't care for the smells either and was more than happy to leave as he clutched at his stomach too. We were two peas in a pod this morning. Lol.
annonshey - 16 days ago
So happy I haven't been sick in days! Starting to have more energy. Still getting headaches every day, but not bad enough that I need Tylenol. Cant wait for week12!
sophie-hannah - 16 days ago

I don't know what can be
worst...This is far from my first pregnancy but I can say it is my last. I never felt so fatigued, i mean extreme. Not with any of my pregnancy but the strange thing no morning sickness. I would never thought I was pregnant again if wasn't for my stomach growing so big already :/
annonshey - 18 days ago
Gigous so happy for you! What a neat way to tell everyone! Cant wait to hear about it later! Dory I'm 'knocking on wood' for saying this but it's been four days for me! I hope it's gone for good! I didn't even realize how bad I've felt the entire time until I wasn't sick anymore :) yay week 11!

I keep thinking that I'll start feeling better any day now, but this weekend was rough...gagging and dry heaving every time I moved around. The only time I feel good for any length of time is while I'm in the pool. I'm hoping that week 12 will bring some relief.
gigous3 - 18 days ago
Hello week 11! So excited to be here and even more excited to share the news with everyone next week. I have only told my sister, a close dear friend, and a close friend at work. I still cannot believe that I have kept it such a secret for so long. My husband hasn't told a soul, but I had to at least tell someone. Since I had a mc last year, we are holding it in until Mother's Day. I am thinking of putting my daughter in a shirt that says Big Sister and see how long it takes for everyone to notice. Feeling pretty good. Morning sickness was not terrible for this pregnancy as I have had much worse with my first two children. Still ready for another doctor's appt. so I can hear my baby's heartbeat. Ready to move to the second tri-mester!
waitingtoexhale - 23 days ago
Thanks for all the kind words ladies! I'm moving to week 12, but will visit. I generally like reading the week by week comments all at once, then going to my week. Love hearing all that we all are going through at these different stages. Good luck with everything!

hi I am new to this week and just went for a nt scan today and they pushed my due date back 9 days so week 11 here we go again. too bad they pushed me back and not forward cause I swear I look 20 weeks pregnant.
this is my 4 pregnancy - I have one 5 year old boy, then had one mc, and a 17 month old little girl. This baby was a bit of a surprise as I was actually still bf my daughter when i got pregnant.
I have very large fibroids one on my cervix so have had 2 csections and will have another one this time around.
hope everyone is having a good pregnancy thus far
