At this point of your pregnancy, your baby is approximately 4.3 to 4.6 inches long and weighs 2.8 ounces. Not only is your baby growing, your uterus and placenta continue to grow to accommodate the growing baby inside of you! Just six weeks ago, your uterus weighed about 5 ounces. This week it now weighs 8.75 ounces! The amniotic fluid that surrounds the baby is increasing and there is about 7.5 ounces of fluid. You will easily be able to feel your uterus approximately three inches below your navel.

This is an important week for testing and you will most likely have an AFP test done. This is a harmless blood test that is done to detect abnormalities such as Down's syndrome or spina bifida. This is a non-invasive test and it carries no risk to your developing baby. Most doctors will offer the test, but in most cases it is completely optional.

Your milk glands start production at this time and this causes some tenderness and swelling in early pregnancy. Your veins will become more visible because there is an increased amount of blood flowing to the breasts.

Five and a half inches tall and only six ounces in weight. The child can grasp with his hands, kick, or even somersault.

At this time, your baby is holding her head erect. Because her muscles are developing, she can make some faces now. Your baby is able to squint, frown and open its mouth. There is enough calcium in the bones that they will show up on an x-ray. Your baby's fingernails are well formed now and the legs are longer than the arms. Because your baby is moving well now, you may begin to feel his movements! Some women say that the early movements feel like gas bubbles or a slight flutter. If you have not yet felt the baby move, don't worry. Fetal movements are usually felt between the 16th and 20th week of pregnancy.

You may feel your heart beating 'louder'. This is because there is a lot more blood in your body than normal. (about 20-25% more)

hi ladies, how are we all doing? I also have days where i am not that hungry and then there are the days like today where i wake up at 7am from the hunger and have to eat pronto! Personal question here, does anyone elses nipples really hurt when you get really cold going outside or showering in cold house?? i have never been more aware of my nipples in my whole life!!

your not supposed to eat deli meat because it contains some sort of bacteria, i forget the name of it, but i think it only becomes an issue if you eat it all the time, same goes for seafood.

My appetite is way off. During the day I snack and eat light and at dinner I have some strawberries and I'm full my fiance says I should eat a meal but if I do it comes right back up On another note. Why is it bad to eat deli meat when pregnant???

1katieann - I flew to Jamaica with my last pregnancy at 21 weeks, and there were women there much more pregnant than me - most airlines will let you fly until around 34 weeks - then they sometimes require a note.

This is my fifth (I was a surrogate for a family member) and I've felt all them at different times. This one I very rarely feel and it is just tiny little bumps. With my first I never even noticed the flutters I just felt that first real kick at 6 months.

ok, so I was listening to the doppler tonight and found one heartbeat underneath my belly button that was about 158-160 and immediately after found another heartbeat in my lower left abdomen beating at around 140-144. Yet my Doctor says I'm small for date if I'm truly 16 weeks, I'm only measuring 14 and a half, ALTHOUGH she also says that centimeter per week thing doesn't really kick in until after 20 weeks....could this be twins??

Okay ladies my appetite has been all over the place Im starving one day and could careless the next, so I think this is probably 'normal' if there is such a thing. I still get nauseas occassionally too! not sure what thats about! been feel little man moving alot, i hope he poops himself out in there :) Now Im just waiting to get the results of my amnio and hopefully this will be the last event of the pregnancy, other than birth!

I go to the dr next Wednesday and if I am correct I have lost 13 pounds since I have been pregnant. I guess we will see what he says. I eat, I just can't eat much at a time. I am in maternity clothes though. I have my 'bump' so the baby appears to be growing.

My appetite has been off too. I am hungry but can't eat much.. I went to the Dr yesterday and turns out I lost two pounds. Which brings my grand total to -2 lbs since I got pregnant. My Dr told me he wants me to gain 12 lbs in the next 4 weeks. Talk about pressure! I guess he was a bit concerned since I'm not overweight at all to begin with. But I'm really trying to EAT, all you ladies should do the same! =]

I couldn't eat much either...until just a couple of days ago. I would have to eat my meals in halves. Now....I can eat it all at once though. And...boy am I hungry all the time!! I just try to snack on healthy things...apple slices, almonds, cereal.

Jpeanut- I too have a really small apetite since being pregnant, I get full eating an apple!!! Definitely not eating as much as I did before baby, my worse time of day is evening dinner my other half is always telling me i'm not eating enough but I can't manage anymore than I am eating. I'm not worrying about it though as i am sure my apetite will increase with the coming months. X

I've just decided to stop trying to fit into my old clothes and go for the elastic! It feels great. I'm going to enjoy being huge one last time bc this is definitely my LAST. I can't wait to find out the sex. Those that have had an US this week - did you get a good clear shot or is it still iffy at this point? I'm trying to decide if I just want to go for it this weekend and pay for one or wait another week or two.

Liandre, I felt movement with my first at 16weeks and this one at 13weeks there was the odd little flutter. I had a short little scan to see the baby at 9weeks, that was $50 and we're going for a gender scan on Saturday, that'll be about $100 (still 2D) 3/4D ultrasound is $200. nibbles i know how you feel!!! my family has been supportive but my fiance's family has been rude to me and it is tough to deal with....it is upseting him to hear the things they are saying about me even though i have given them no reason to be hateful...and it makes it worse when he sees that it hurts me....on top of that...i have no mother...she took off on me when i was 2...havn't seen her since so i have NEVER had the 'motherly' support and i am VERY jealous of others that do...this is a time when a daughter wants their mother to be there and hopefully eventually she will come around!! sorry to hear about it but just know u are never alone!!!! there is always some one to turn to!!! and the movement...everyone is different...and the babies mostly move late at night while u are sleeping...i have only felt my lil bug once and it was at 3 in the morning when i got up to go to the bathroon!!! it will happen just don't stress about it!!!

Dance82681- about the measuring, my dr said that until you hit twenty weeks and everything is formed and its just growth from there is when you should listen to the measuring. For ex, with my DD, at 38 weeks i was measuring 40 because she was so big, so we induced and she weighed 8.12 if i would have waited for my 'ultrasound' due date she would have 10.12 lol, the measurements are more of what yours 'body' is sayin, and the us is like the offical going by dates of lmp, etc.
