The right foot, including the developing bones, are clearly visible in the middle of the screen |
Your baby's crown-to-rump length is 5.2 to 6 inches this week. Your baby weighs approximately 7 ounces and will increase its weight more than 15 times between now and birth!
Most women can feel their uterus about a half of an inch below their bellybutton at this point of pregnancy. If you turn to the side, you can really tell that your body is changing! Most women have gained up to 14 pounds now and only 7 ounces of that is your baby! The placenta weighs about 6 ounces and the amniotic fluid that surrounds your baby weighs 11 ounces. Your breasts have increased in weight by 6 ounces each and the uterus has grown to 11 ounces! You may be gaining weight in places other than your abdomen and this may be affecting your posture and sleeping habits.
One of the most amazing aspects of your baby's growth and development is that of the fetal brain. Your baby's brain is one of the first organs to appear. Your baby's oversized head shows the brain's importance in his development. Because the nerves that connect the muscles to the brain have grown into place, your baby's movements are consciously directed. Your baby's ears stand out from the sides of the head and the buds for your baby's permanent teeth appear. Your baby's arms and legs have reached their relative proportions and his feet are approximately one inch long.

IT'S A BOY!!!!!! Our baby wasn't very cooperative in there but his parts were clear as day! He has long legs like my husband too, so cool to see, oh my gosh such a great moment. A little nerve racking waiting for them to do all their measurements though!
Yay! So exciting, we're going out to dinner tonight to celebrate! Good luck to all those going in next week!!!!!snoogy -

When I was pregnant with my son (my first) my ex-mother-in-law used to drive me crazy about what we were planning to name Evan. So I'd tell her, and everyone else who asked, that if it was a boy we were naming him Nordberg and if it was a girl we'd name her Iza...so when she was 2 and ppl asked her her name she could say, Iza 'last name'. They eventually left me alone about it.mommy45 -

Another problem that I'm having is I am a teacher. When you are a teacher trying to find a name you think of all of the children that you have taught in the past. Sometimes that can turn a beautiful name really yucky!! I love all of my students, but they aren't always who you want to name your child after. lolmommy45 -

Isn't that the truth litsey7!! My mother wants a particular name that includes her name and my sister said that I can name it what I want to, but she is going to call her Elizabeth. I'm not real concerned with them. It's just my daughter that is giving me so much trouble.HaileyC -

My husband is the problem for naming... we're not taking any outside orders, but he hates all of the girl names I come up with!!! Chloe is the only one we agree upon (other than Sophia, but we have a good friend named Sophia and that's too confusing for me!!)litsey7 -

Isnt it crazy how everyone will all of a sudden throw a fit to name ur baby! its nuts! I am sick from tryin to please everyone. Its not like my name ( stacy) is either that popular or rare and my mom thinks all the names she has come up with she should be able to get like a medal or somethin!mommy45 -

cymboliqua- I totally agree, but I have an 18 year old daughter that still lives at home and she is the hold up. I'm excited that she is wanting to get involved, but she is driving her daddy and me CRAZY about the name. We really wanted the name Danica but she is totally against that. UGH!!!sara-in-oregon -

Re: Name Jayden
I think it's a nice name... but I think Jayden is the new Jennifer. Remember when you were in elementary school and there was like Jen P, Jen W and Jen K? I think there are going to be tons of Jaydens in this age group.

I was just wondering if anyone else has a bellybutton that was sutured instead of tied? I was a preemie and had tubes in there for like a month or so... so they didn't tie it like normal people. I'm curious what mine will do if/when it pops out.cymboliqua -

Re:Appetite
I wish I had less of an appetite. I'm hungry every three hours... and I eat, because if I don't, I puke. I'm sure I've gained more weight than I should.sara-in-oregon -

Re: nosebleeds
I've only had a nosebleed once. Mostly I just have dry crusty boogers that are incredibly annoying and don't come out with regular nose-blowing...so I'm basically forced to pick my nose. Gross. I guess it's partly due to the pregnancy hormones and partly due to our dry summer weather.HaileyC -

Yes, I have a definite sore spot at it's new hangout spot. When it's kicking me, I don't usually have that sore feeling, it's more sore when it's not kicking.... so I'm guessing that's how I can tell that it's sleeping?girlygirlinnc -
14.4 hours ago
Yeah...do you get a sore spot, almost like a bruised feeling on the inside, from where you little one kicks/hangs out? I've noticed a sore spot today and it seems to be right in the same spot I feel her kicking me most of the time.HaileyC -

Jluv...I get that way too with regard to my appetite. Most days I'm HUNGRY, but some days not so much. HaileyC...I've been mostly feeling kicks on my right side and I think she likes to hang out way down low. However, today it seemed like she was doing summersaults in there or something. Very cute!jluv -

It drives my b/f crazy. He wants me to eat. Yesterday he served me dinner and I was like I am never going to finish all that and I didn't. It was waaay too much for me. Having the leftovers for lunch but think I'm just going to eat the salad now since I'm not so hungry just to keep my energy (what little is there) up.ANG- -

@ soonmomoftwo - I'm considering a planned c-section for personal reasons which I haven't discussed with my doctor yet. It scares me though, especially recovery. My other 3 were born vaginally so I've already experienced that aspect. misty08 -

When I lay on my right side, and try to change positions, I get this major cramp in my lower abdomen, just on that side. When I lay on my left, I'm fine. Anyone know what this could be? Should I be worried or is it one of those pregnancy pains? Also, I have new pics up and showin off that bump! :) I'll be new to week 19 effective tomorrow! :) Hello everyone!!!! :)soonmomoftwo -

Is anyone having a planned c-section? I think that I am going to but GRRRRR!!!! I want to have a baby the right way! I had an emergency c-section with my first and now the NP told me my doctor will probably lean towards a c-section again. Granted the only way it woud even be a possiblity for me to even attempt to do a VBAC is is the placenta previa goes away. I have another u/s on August 8th so hopefully...I am trying not to get my hopes up because at the last u/s it hadnt moved at all from 12 weeks. :( so anyway, I am just wondering if anyone else is having a scheduled c-section and how they are feeling about it. triplethreat -

My husband is the same way, he is extremely protective and makes me prop my feet and if I end up on my back at night he will wake me up and put me on my left side. It's so funny but annoying at 2am.katiemac -

could someone describe what the baby kicks/movement feel like. Im feeling a ton of stuff but I cant tell if its the baby. My belly feels sore most of the time so I just assume that what Im feeling has something to do with all the stretching. By the way, i have been getting stretch marks already. I dont really mind them cause they are only red for about a day and then turn whiteish and blend in with my stomach. I have been slathering the cocoa butter lotion and almond oil so hopefully that helps when the real stretching starts. anyone on the same boat?tarasblessing -
