Your baby is continuing to grow each week that you remain pregnant. Your baby's crown-to-rump length is nearly 11.2 inches and total length is approximately 18 inches. Your baby weighs approximately 3.5 pounds at this point. Your uterus is about 4.4 inches above your bellybutton and continues to get larger. An average weight gain at this point is between 21 and 27 pounds. The weight that you gain is made up of your baby, placenta, blood supply, uterus, breasts, fat, water storage and amniotic fluid.
Because the ligaments and muscles supporting the small of your back relax and loosen in order to get ready for childbirth, your back may be aching from now on. There is usually nothing that can be done to prevent backaches, only to make them more comfortable. Many women get heartburn during these last few weeks of pregnancy because the oversized uterus leaves less room for the stomach and the contents within the stomach. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help relieve the discomforts of heartburn.
This week marks an incredible milestone in your baby's lung development. Before now, the air sacs and branches in your baby's lungs were present but not functional. The lungs were not able to inflate properly. However, now there is surfactant being produced in your baby's lungs. Surfactant prevents your baby's lungs from collapsing outside of the uterus and the baby is able to take in air and breathe properly. The fetal ear is almost completely developed both inside and out. Your baby can hear your voice and other familiar sounds that she will recognize after birth. Your baby is putting on white fat under the skin and the skin's color is pink instead of red at this point. Your baby's fingernails have grown to the end of her fingers and she may scratch herself while she is in the womb.

For all you mommies out there who wish your little ones would kick you all the time... no you dont!!! My girl went at it for 5 hrs at a time yesterday with about 45 min breaks in between.. I broke down... I could not take it anymore.. I was crying and simply exhausted... today she is a bit better... thank god. My poor hubby... he didnt know what to do.. he just rubbed my belly and talked to her asking her to calm down and just sleep so mommy could rest.. he did that for aobut 10 minutes,, which I might add calmed me down too and finally I was able to drift off.. thank god for dads. I love feeling her dont get me wrong.. but constantly and combined with my SPD and haveing to wear a belly brace and bed rest... enough was enough... but today is a new day...!! Happy thoughts.

Awww that's great Leslie! Trystan has been kick boxing my ribs all morning. LOL Little stinker! I told my hubby that I am trying not to complain about the painful stuff because I know I am going to really miss this alone time I have with my little peanut inside of me! I am excited for him to come but sad that it's almost over too...strange!

cgonzalez- my daughter weighed 4lbs 9oz at 38 weeks. The only reason why she was so small was because she has one kidney and had a two vessel cord. It's really common to be small when you have one kidney. She still is small now. She's 13 months and wears 9-12 months in clothing.

arleneholm28-
you saw your baby yawning lol! and sticking out the tounge. omg! that's awesome... I want another sonogram.
arleneholm28 - 3.1 hours ago
I just had an ultrasound done at my specialist and my little girl is head down, weighing 3.10. She's measuring exactly 31 weeks too. She is so cute. She kept yawning and sticking her tongue out too. I loved it.
Leslie1212 - 3.4 hours ago
Well, Keri asked for one thing for the baby...the Zen Bassinet. I just ordered it. I sure do hope we use it enough to justify the 200.00 price...wow...ouch!
MaddisMomE - 4.4 hours ago
Okay is it me or does it seem like that baby in the picture could not turn themselves upside down? It looks like there is no room! It makes it seem as though there is now way possible that they could turn. Just a thought!
Leslie1212 - 4.4 hours ago
The last few minutes have been AMAZING!!!!!! My usually oh so quiet Lawson decided to perk up! I got 5 really nice, strong kicks! I LOVE IT!! I wish she would do that all the time! YAY!
Irishclove - 4.4 hours ago
I am not feeling to cheerful today. I am glad that she is healthy but ,she moved somehow in the past few days and I feel like I have a cannon ball in my crotch. Yesterday my doctor said that is good. I wanted to kick her. So today I decided to be an ass and told my boss I need it a laptop computer for work cause I am moving in the handicap stool in the bathroom.

LOL at that pic of a baby on this page, looks like a monkey. Anyway I'm just procrastinating, must do some housework!!
MaddisMomE - 5.1 hours ago
I miss coffee. We have starbucks coffee here at work but they make it way to strong so I stay away from it. I have had only one coke in the past three days and am seriously dragging. I am strictly drinking water. It sucks but hopefully my fluid level will go up for my next sono on Tuesday.
MaddisMomE - 5.2 hours ago
I am so glad the rest of you ladies have joined this week. I am in the week a head every Wed. and it is sooooo quite that I always go back to the previous week to see what's going on with everyone!
YayBaby1 - 5.3 hours ago
I get a coffee from Tim's pretty much every day but I cut back considerably! I used to drink an extra large every morning and then sometimes another for my drive home! And that's not to mention the other cups of java during the day... Now I just stick to one medium coffee in the morning and that's it! My doc said it's ok. Thank goodness b/c I would seriously be the grumpiest gal in the world without it!! LOL

Hello week 31! Wow it sure is moving along fast. I have been feeling pretty good ladies. alot of pressure down below caused by my little girl is really low and she has moved her head way down into my pelvis. Feels like I pee every hour. She is laying on my right side with her feet and hands on the left, I swear she is using my left pelvic bone as a toy. All day long she messes with it. I can't wait to have her in my arms.
nat-davies01 - 5.6 hours ago
Weirdly enough my baby has been head down since 24 weeks, with her head practically on my bladder yet I barely ever need a wee? No more than usual anyway! If I do need to go in the night, which is pretty rare, I find myself sneaking to the bathroom in case I wake her up, even though she's on the inside and coming with me?! Haha what a weirdo..
Leslie1212 - 5.7 hours ago
Steps AND a porta potty? Oh hells no! I am not sure how you can manage the steps! I am so short of breath I can barely make it to the elevator.
Diane2010 - 5.9 hours ago
On the topic pee UGH RRRRRRR I hate having to go while I'm at work because about 2 mo a go they started remolding our bathrooms here and brought in Port O' Potty's YUCK. So not only do I have to go down then up 23 steps to go to the bathroom, I have to go in those nasty things. Then I have to Lysol my self when I get back to my desk to make sure I don't have any germs on me, just to have to repeat the process about a hr later.
arleneholm28 - 6.4 hours ago
Lol Leslie! That's all I do too. It's annoying. I'm on the 24 urine test too and they expect me to collect ALL that in the jug. Uhmmm.....not.

Good Morning week 31. 9 more weeks to go. There is still so much I need to get, it's crazy.
Irishclove, I can't believe you fell asleep at dinner. That's crazy. I'm so tired thesis days that I barely have energy to eat. Somehow at night I'm wide awake though. Not much longer! ;+)
Irishclove - 8.9 hours ago
karissasmommy - me too. I am so very tired and no matter how much I sleep makes no difference. Last night I went out to eat and i fell asleep at the table.
mummy lana - 10.5 hours ago
i had my check up yesterday and my bump has grown lots since 4 weeks ago so i will be seen in 3 weeks and if still growing at the same rate i will be refered to a specailist at the hospital!!! oh and he is still breech and my iron levels are fine for the first time in my pregnancy
Berrymama - 16 hours ago
What can you do for a shower if you will not know the gender prior to birth? Any ideas or anyone who has done this please comment on my poll. TY
MaddoxAndAverysMama - 19.4 hours ago
I really don't want to feel 39 or 40 weeks pregnant.. I had my son at 38w2d and was MISERABLE... He weighed 7lbs 1oz... which was JUST FINE for me.. right now I've got a date for 39w induction...
blainesmomma - 21.4 hours ago
I'm with you on the feeling tired! I've been go, go, go all pregnancy and doing great, but this week it is like I hit a brick wall. I taught all day Tuesday, coached cheer practice, came home and cooked dinner, then realized my legs were swollen up to my knees! I had horrible 'cankles'. I can still tell that if I am standing too long I start to swell, so I am making myself take it easy... but I am still exhausted! Where did the energy go?...
karissasmommy - 21.7 hours ago
Has anyone been extremely tired lately?? I was very tired in the beginning then had lots of energy but the last week Ive been so tired...
karissasmommy - 21.7 hours ago
cgonzalez -I know what you mean mines having a lazy day too lol
cgonzalez - 22 hours ago
8 more weeks does feel like an eternity specially with back aches etc
cgonzalez - 22.1 hours ago
My baby seems to be having a lazy day. She usually moves a lot but today she has moved less. I'm sure its no big deal as long as she's ok based on fetal kick counting.
It is quiet here... I agree with you maddis
cgonzalez - 22.1 hours ago
Maddismome- I have no idea as to how they plan for me to be prepared for my csection date since they don't tell me until basically the end. Lol
So you had a baby born at 38 weeks. Wow how much did he-she weigh?
MaddisMomE - 1 days ago
So I have been downing water like there is no tomorrow. I hope this makes a difference on my sono next week. It's killing me to walk out of the office to go pee!
