By week 32, your baby weighs nearly 4 pounds! The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 11.7 inches and the total length is about 18.9 inches. Your uterus is now 5 inches above your bellybutton. Some doctors do not see their patients every other week until now. So, if you were going to the doctor monthly, you may begin going once every other week now.
Sleeping boy. the baby sleeps 90-95% of the day, and sometimes experiences REM sleep, an indication of dreaming.
Now that your baby has grown so long and your uterus is higher, you might notice a new discomfort. Your baby is probably head-down and may occasionally stretch out and kick you in the ribs. The pressure on your rib cage can make you sore, especially if one of your baby's feet becomes caught. You can prevent this by sitting up straight as much as possible. Because your baby's demands for vitamins and minerals are higher than ever right now, you should continue to take your parental vitamins for the entire pregnancy.
This week your baby's movements will peak. You should continue to monitor the fetal movements daily and address any concerns with your caregiver. The wrinkles in your baby's face are disappearing and fat is still being deposited throughout the baby's body.
The body growth slows down from now on.
Because of the lack of space in the uterus, the legs are drawn up in what is known as the fetal position.
As a preparation for breastfeeding, your baby has learned to root for the breast. The baby will turn its head if touched on the cheek and open its mouth if the bottom lip is tickled. By this time the baby can also suck and swallow in a coordinated way.

Brooke - Good Luck with the Potty Training! Have you tried using stickers when he goes on the potty?...that worked so well with Hudson. I potty trained him around the same time he was self-weaning himself from the breast {20 months} I found potty training Hudson so much harder then I did with Makenah. She was 15 months old & wearing panties {even to bed!} everyone thinks it was WAY too early...but she was ready! She was the one that wanted to start.
I actually have 2 friends of mine that are training their babies. My best friends little guy is 8 months old & hasn't pooped in his diaper for the past month...and another friend of mine started holding her little girl over the flush at 3 months. Its very popular over in Europe to train your babies {as is most things 'natural')

Yelp, I knew it...I'm dilated 1cm almost 2cm not sure how effaced I am. I have to go back on Monday, if things aren't better I'm looking at bedrest until I deliver. They spoke about meds to stop all the contractions..boooo But I will do what it takes to avoid another NICU preemie. Just wish my body would cooperate!!

My 2(almost 3) year old still wears pull-ups at nap and bed time. That probably won't change until I'm ready to limit her fluid after 6 at night. It's so hot though that I don't see doing that anytime soon. Sometimes she stays dry for naps but I'd rather go thru 1-2 pull-ups a day than wash sheets all the time. My 13 month old transitioned right to the cold milk (I was surprised!!) but, again, it's been so hot and we're not running the air....
She likes her sister's sippy cup but only for short stints. I wonder if I do manage to get her to sippy cup before baby arrives if she will regress.?? Maybe not since baby will breastfeed and not have a bottle.

Gift - Oh that would suck so much! He' 2 and 4 months, so I didn't think he'd do well any earlier, but I don't really want three in diapers. We've already on day 5 and he is doing very well so I don't think there's any turning back now. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that he doesn't regress! I plan on leaving the night time training for a while. He is just wearing diapers to bed now. Any suggestions on what to do for night training once the time comes? My 13 month transitioned fine to whole milk, BUT we still heat her bottles for 20 seconds. I should try to ease her into cold milk though!

Got my 13 month old switched from formula to whole milk-that transition went really well. Next comes the hard part....bottle to sippy cup. :( Oh boy!!

Julz~ Glad to here your little one is still hanging in there :) Gift~ I totally agree and learned my lesson the hard way .. When I was pregnant with Olivia I was determined to get Alice trained .. and I did !! (for 2 weeks) Then Olivia came and we were on the road moving from MI to CO 2 days later .. I don't suggest moving cross country 48hrs after baby comes!! But that was June and Alice was back in pull ups when we got to CO. I think because of all the changes .. new baby new state new home no family .. It took me until october to get her trained again !! So with Autumn this time .. I haven't pushed her .. I figure once the baby gets here I will have ALL summer to get her done and in panties .. I already won the battle to get her into a big girl bed so the loss of her diapers will come soon enough :)

brookes--Not to discourage you, but I had a lot of ladies advise me when I was expecting my second that potty training right before new baby comes isn't a good idea. I guess a lot of little ones who have shown success, actually regress after baby comes and you're starting over. On that advice, I decided to wait 'til after baby to start training....and STILL had a time! Of course we had some major changes in there as well. When baby was 3 months old we moved from GA to KY and stayed with my Mom and sisters for 3 months and then we got a place of our own so we moved again----but I'm just saying what ever progress you make now may be undone once little one gets here.

I'm still here, doing okay. I'm going to the doc tomorrow, for now I've been taking it easy. If contractions come back I am to go to L&D asap. Still feeling lots of pressure, but it's manageable as long as I stay off my feet. I have a feeling bed rest is in my near future...ugh! I am so exhausted from all this.

Hi Ladies! Hope everyone is doing well. My computer was broken for a few days so it's awesome to have it back. Yay, can't believe we are in the home stretch. I packed my hospital bag just in case and organized all Finn's clothes! Ughhh potty training Oscar this week though... not my idea of fun lol

Got carseat cleaned and all three are moved around and strapped in so that's done. We just got the minivan on Monday and a new carseat yesterday so I gave my almost-3-year-old the option of which carseat she wanted and which side she wanted to sit on in the back bench. That didn't go too bad--except after we strapped her in to check for size, she wanted to go somewhere! :( I've been somewhere every day this week and have to go out again tomorrow....I'm staying home today!! I am a little nervous about putting the girls way in the back--mainly because the air doesn't work at present and only the driver's window goes down. The ones in the back vent open a little but I'm just afraid they will get too hot. But I didn't want to wait 'til DJ gets here and then try to move them to the back----ugh!

Seventh- There's a large part of me that envies you knowing that your baby will come around a certain time. Of course, I'm not in any way interested in having seven children. lol This is only my second so I don't really have any kind of pattern that I can count on. I'm thinking that I should definitely deliver on time at least but who knows for sure? I honestly can't imagine having enough room left for this girl to grow for another 8 weeks. Going to the doctor today. I think I'm going to have one more that is two weeks away and then end up going every week after that. I also found out that dh's work schedule was changed so now I'll be going to prenatal classes all by myself (sad face).

First day in week 32!! Can't believe in 8 more weeks we will all be meeting or have met our little bundles. I am starting out week 32 with a call into my docs, been having some consistent contractions that come in spurts (like they last an hour at 6mins apart then leave for 3 hours then come back) and now I'm having pressure. Gonna check to make sure baby isn't trying to make an early arrival.

I can't say what I'm feeling is excitement, is that bad? I'm terrified of how things are going to be, not to mention home renovations still in progress! I am starting to totally freak out, am I the only one?

I'm so tired already and it's not even 9am. I wish I could have stayed home from work today. After a long day and night, I slept late which means I was late for work this morning and forgot to eat anything. All I have is junk as snacks here so that's not good. Maybe I'll have time to go get some fruit around my lunch break.

Congratulations washnwear. That's exciting!! What do you plan on doing with your masters? We just got chicks. My oldest son (3) loves them. I just can't keep him away from them as they are in the house until my husband can fix the shed. This month will surely fly by. Next month may drag a little up until the third week because we will be getting ready to go camping with our youth program for our assembly. I'm excited. I am due the day it ends. Lol. Hard to say if I will be late with this one because ive been 40-41 weeks late with both my sons. :D. Warm weather is awesome and that helps time fly by as well. I just know it will get here when I blink and I will finally be holding my first little girl:D

Hi everybody! Happy Mother's Day! I graduated with my masters yesterday. So glad that's all over. Its day one in week 32 for me. I have two weeks of work left and then I get to just relax and get ready for the baby to get here.

My diet with this third pregnancy is the worse than my two previous. I don't know why. I just feel bad that I allowed myself to eat unhealthy. My feet have been swollen since yesterday. I also was on my feet almost all day and by the time I finished dinner it hurt to walk and then today they've been swollen and hurt and I guess they haven't recovered since yesterday, I haven't been on them too long. I don't like salt and the salt I do use is Celtic Sea Salt. I don't even use much of that. I just want to stay away from carbohydrates and ice cream. That's what I have been eating lot of, is Icecream. I hate tattle tailing on my self but just wanted to post it. The last two pregnancy's I had winter babies and the only time my feet would swell was after a walk during summer. I just need to becareful what I eat and hope I don't get preeclampsia and/or toxemia.

Hey! Yesterday evening was so hectic, I ended up not even coming home until after 9, so I never got a chance to call. I am still experiencing them, they are really dull, similar to the cramps felt when my period is on its way. I am drinking alot of water and will see if they subside. If not, I will call this afternoon. Thanks for checking on me!

I'm mostly finished packing my hospital bag finally. Just have to pack for Caleb and finish packing dh's things. Then it's on to ds and dd's bags for grandma's house. But it should all be done this weekend. My appointment at the new midwife office is tomorrow morning and I'm really nervous because I don't adjust well to change. And this is a very intimate change. Caleb is either head down it lying transverse as I felt hiccups pretty low last night. I'm thinking more transverse though because his kicks feel like they're on both sides at the same time most times. Dh was getting kicked in the back by him this morning when I was laying in my side smuggled up behind him.

Does anyone else experience period type cramping? I keep reading to alert your doctor immediately if you do, but I don't have any contractions out of the ordinary. Is this really something to worry about? Baby weighed 4 lbs 6 oz at the ultrasound yesterday btw. Everything still looks good.

Happy late Birthday MaddieK hope u had a really good time on ur day...The lactational amenorrhea method (LAM) is a natural birth control technique based on the fact that lactation (breastmilk production) causes amenorrhea (lack of menstruation).

dh and I have decided that this will be our last baby and he's going to get a vasectomy but I think that i'm going to have a mirena placed again as well because I don't want periods.

first day in week 32. i'm exhausted and sore. and I had serious tummy trouble in the middle of the night last night. constipation and gas followed by diarrhea. my shower is this Saturday and i'm both excited and nervous about it. I don't really like being the center of attention but i'm going to keep telling myself that the attention is really for Caleb. I just hope that no one touches my belly that makes me cringe. especially since some of the guests are my dh's coworkers who I don't really know.

MaddieK - happy birthday! Rockabyebaby - yes, I have had some super snotty discharge in the past few days, but it is gone now. It was the same with my son, started about now, then a bigger piece fell out around 37-38 weeks and then I had the bloody show on his due date and he was born 10 hours later.

Writer I basically had to start over because our youngest is 4.5 years old. All I had left was the crib and a stroller. I most certainly thought I was done with having more kids, so I sold everything.

Had a great day today met with this lady who had baby clothes and was selling them for .50 cents a piece a lot was new with tags or either worn one time. I hit the jackpot. Also I put on a site I was looking for a pack n play and a lady gave me one for free. Now all I need is a glider which I'm supposed to go see one tomorrow that's new and she only wants $50 to get it out of their nursery.

maddiek - yep a blastocyst is a fertilized egg that has developed/divided properly for 5 days in our case. Thanks for your thoughts.
allstar15 - 15 days ago
We are definitely done over here even though I tease him I want to try again for a princess lol. He's never told me no about anything until now :) I understand pregnancy is difficult for me and with him being older I think he's finally reached that I am done have kids point. We were told girl, than boy, than girl and again boy but only one baby. He has said from day one it was a boy but I said girl. I just don't have the boy feel like I did with my previous 2 not to mention my boys pregnancies mimick each other to a t. This pregnancy has been completely different and emotional. On top of that Im breaking out all over and still get sick and can't eat meat like I want to.
allstar15 - 15 days ago
Kerot- I see both sides but I must say I couldn't see my biological child out there anywhere but 95% is way more than 75%. Sounds like you both know you are done so just pray for the best and healing of your heart.
maddiek - 15 days ago
What is the lam method? Kerot, I have no idea how I would feel in that position. That would be difficult, and I understand both views. I would remind you that our bodies naturally dispose of unused eggs, but a blastocycst is already fertilized, am I right?
kerot - 15 days ago
Since I am having a c-sec and we do IVF anyway I am having a tubal ligation. We are about 95% sure we are done, but even if not we have 3 more perfect A grade blastocysts waiting for us. Our moral dilemma is what to do with those if we don't use them. I hate this decision. I couldn't stand the thought of our genetic son/daughter being out there somewhere so donating them is out, but I can't stand to see them destroyed either. Any of you have any input on this matter? We are so torn. We will pay to have them frozen for a few years to make sure we are done so there isn't a need for an immediate decision.
kidatrbaby - 15 days ago
Maddiek - i plan to try the lam method I normally dnt ovulate while nursing anyways I would like 1 more baby before my hubby gets nipped anyways ....
WriterMom - 15 days ago
maddiek - since we are done having kids, I think my husband will go for a vasectomy. Otherwise we always went the condom route, always successfully. However - as soon as we left the condom out to get pregnant, I got pregnant on the first try, so I don't want to take any chances after this one, haha!

Hi everyone. It has been a long time since my last posting. I am happily 32wks 5days. However measuring 34-35 weeks. I've been experiencing a lot of 'practice' contractions that have been knocking me down. At 5mths they said that I was having a girl but I still don't feel that it is. The baby is a big baby and I pray that it comes healthy normal and strong. I can safely say that all pregnancies are different. This is my 3rd and it has taken me on a roller coaster ride. My other 2 children are 4yrs old and 1yr old (both girls).
Recently there has been a development of a lot of stress and it has tested my emotion ability to stay calm. Happily I will also be finished with my last final on May 6th. Which will take some pressure off.
My obgyn says that I have to have another c-section since my previous 2 were c-sections. Kind of feeling some kind of way about that. I do understand the 'possible' complications but if there is no solid risk in delivering by vaginal birth then why not at least try?
Well now that I've talked your ear off have to study some more for the final and then try to take a nap while my youngest is still asleep.

32 weeks today since my due date change! Feeling huge and SLOW! I'm trying to decide what will be best in terms of birth control after delivery....any thoughts?

Klewis using sign in name not email--Thanks guys! I had my 32 week check up today and she ordered a growth U/S! Im so excited to see how big this girl has gotten, it seems like she is huge:) I also just realized that i wrote i had my last US at 28 weeks, which was wrong i had it at 24 weeks, so Im sure a lot has changed since then! Yes it has become very hot lately and then it snows one day and then its hot...my doc recommended compression stalkings but my sister said she did not feel they were beneficial during her pregnancies so Im not sure yet. Dont worry i have not gotten but one pic of my babys face either, they had an adorable shot on the screen at the last US but did not take the pic:( Hope everyone is doing well! Hope everything is okay with the baby Jamie:)

Kerot -ive yet to see my lil boys face either he's always faced inward or he covers his face :(

Well, once again no pictures during u/s. Cooper was face down/head down. Ugghh! I want to see what he looks like!! Oh-well. Growth u/s claims he is 4#5oz and apporx 18.4 inches long which is 49% for weight and 43% for height according to their charts. Kind of surprising since I am 5'10' and my hubby is 6'3'. But he also said from now til 36 weeks will be the time he will either head towards the large size or small size.
