Your baby weighs about 4.4 pounds at this point. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 12 inches and the total length is around 19.4 inches. Measuring from the top of your uterus to your bellybutton is 5.2 inches. Total weight gain at this point of pregnancy is usually 22 to 28 pounds.
With the exception of crying, your baby is capable of doing everything that a newborn baby will do. Your baby is restricted now inside of the uterus, but still can kick and move. Your baby sleeps a lot of the time, just as newborn babies do. Your baby's eyes move in the manner of REM sleep and researchers believe that babies can dream vividly in uterus. When your baby is awake, she is listening, feeling and learning. There are billions of neurons in the brain that make trillions of connections. Your baby will probably have settled into the birth position by now and your caregiver can most likely tell which way your baby is presenting. If your baby were to be born now, the lungs would probably be strong enough to function properly, but your baby may still need extra care from specially trained doctors and nurses.
During these last few weeks of pregnancy, most women experience an increased urge to urinate. The uterus puts a lot of pressure on the bladder and can send you to the restroom frequently. Your uterus has actually grown 500 times throughout your pregnancy! Red blood cell production catches up with the production of plasma and physiological anemia may begin to fade at this time.
Your baby's eyes open during alert times and close during sleep. The eye color is usually blue, regardless of the permanent color as pigmentation is not fully developed. The final formation of eye pigmentation requires exposure to light and usually happens a few weeks after birth.

Thanks PANZY. AND Jemsonsmamma oh wow they r small. My sister in law just had her baby at 32 weeks and she weighed 2lb6oz sooo small and my SIL was Due same as me. Can't believe she already have a baby girl.
jamesonsmamma - 35 days ago
Sarah, I am surprised they didn't diagnose that sooner. Since those are pretty classic signs. Lucky with your big babies! My Bub measured 3.6 last week. Or was it 3.2? Anyways small! But, I have small babies. Always have, guess I shouldn't be too surprised. My biggest baby was a wopping 5lb 14oz. Smallest 4lb 7oz. I just really wanted a nice 7 pounder this time, a baby with some meat on it!

After feeling horrible for the last few weeks and even ending up with a visit to hospital, with palpitations, feeling short of breath and exhausted it wasn't just the bronchitis causing me to feel so yuck apparently I'm also horrendously anaemic, so glad to find out now, I can only imagine how much worse it would have gotten post delivery, now I've got a few weeks to top myself up!
jennster - 36 days ago
Awww, Sarah I seriously fight myself everynight to not move my 20 month old into my bed, but I know it'll be a nightmare if i did lol he isn't a cuddler either haha hoping baby #2 is a snuggle bug!
sarahinoz - 36 days ago
So my 2.5 year old non co-sleeping toddler has waited until just before I have another baby to try and get in my bed in the middle of the night. I don't think so sunshine! You might be stubborn but you got that from me! I won but gosh I'm tired lol!
jennster - 36 days ago

sarahinoz - 36 days ago
Jennster I had very thin watery vaginal discharge the last trimester in my first pregnancy I even wore panty liners because it was uncomfortable to feel damp all the time, it was just hormonal changes that triggered it.
Lyndsaylou - 36 days ago
ooh yeah jennster get checked, if it is a leak they'll be able to find out very quickly, and it's not good for the waters to have broken. always better to get checked than not! if you're not sure, go to the loo, have a good ol' wee and then sit there coughing (yeah i know lol!) if it causes you to have a flood then you should really go get checked. i spoke to my midwife today about that, she wasn't concerned for me cos i'd just been getting little trickles but if you're soaking your pants, it's a different story
jamesonsmamma - 36 days ago
Okay, now its starting to fly by! Ugh TMI but I had to be on clear liquids yesterday cause everything, and I mean everything was going straight through me. I'm back to solid food today and managed to stay hydrated.
punzyg - 36 days ago
Jennster- i dunno about 2 underwears but sometimes i can feel it gush out and have to change my underwear. But if you're still leaking then for sure get checked out. Hope it's just excess discharge tho.
jennster - 36 days ago
Tmi- I dunno if I'm leaking fluid or if its just normal dishcarge but I had to change my underwear twice this morning.. Anyone else experience this?
Lyndsaylou - 37 days ago
mbasham they do ultrasounds late for people who have gestational diabetes, as just a matter of course. i guess it's the best and safest way of checking them out. Hope everything's ok
sarahinoz - 37 days ago

mum2bof3 - 37 days ago

lyndsay so glad your jaw is almost back to normal, like we need anything else to happen to our bodies!! lol Well yesterday hubby made himself and our 2 year old a lovely fresh ham salad sandwich which I refused as I have been addicted to sausage rolls with loads of brown sauce this pregnancy. I heated the oven and put the rolls in so he used all the rest of the meat. I kept feeling tempted but couldn't go without my s.rolls. I took them out of the oven only to find that there was no brown sauce!! I burst out crying!! Oh yeah! Crying over brown sauce!! I need my hormones to settle! lol xx

haha mum2b i know what you mean about the sitting! i feel like i'm doing some nasty heavy breathing when i've read out a long question to a student and we're sitting there trying to figure the answer out! my jaw is mostly back in place, thank you by the way :) i couldn't be arsed with the beaurocracy any more so i looked on the lovely interweb and saw a suggestion to wear a gumshield all night to squeeze it back into place! sore but at least i can eat stuff now, and it's almost back to normal :) what ridiculous situations us pregnant people find ourselves in lol!
mum2bof3 - 40 days ago
Oh lyndsay that's horrible!! My jaw locks sometimes but unlocks quite easily when I relax. It only normally happens when I am extremely stressed which luckily is not very often but mine locked the other day for the first time in years. I didn't realise it could be pregnancy related. I was lucky coz it only lasted an hour but that was bad enough!! U have my full sympathy! Is anyone else feeling quite breathless just sitting? Feels like everything makes me breathless but sitting?? Really?? x
